Don't know about Sprint TV's history, but I was definitely watching live NBA on there :p

Magic vs Celtics I believe

Within the last couple of months Sprint released the live ESPN channel. There are a handful of other live stations, but they're mostly mobile channels like ABC mobile, CBS mobile, and NBC mobile.

Anyone going to try updating their phone immediately? Though It's tempting, I'd like to play around with Sense first and see how it works for me.

Me, absolutely. I know enough of Sense to know I want it off my phone ASAP. Hopefully there'll be a few custom ROMs or at least a way to get stock 2.1 on the phone on day one.

For those that will want to visit via their phones to both sites I am adding qr code to make it easier. when you get your phone go to the market on home screen and download barcode scanner, open it and fit this inside the non shaded part of screen and it will let you go to the site in a browser.

I love sense... you should give it a chance.

Yes.. you can turn off sense, and just run stock android.
Menu / manage application
Delete the data on sense
Hit home button / select stock Android.

Are roms the same as iPhone themes? Forgive me, EVO will be my first Android.

No.. they are not the same...

Theme.. only change the look. There are many themes for Android.. and I am sure there will be dozens built for evo.

ROM... change part or all of the OS. Changes, adds, removes, and/or updates Android itself.

Some ROM have themes built into them

And this gives you the stock 2.1 photo gallery, messaging app, etc. etc.? I've heard otherwise.

Besides, even if I could really turn off Sense completely, I'd still need to root to make my phone a wifi hotspot without paying $30 a month.

all the stock apps should work just fine. anything that is sense related would not work of course, but you can find apps and widgets on the market that have similar functions to replace them.

Of course you will have to root to get access to give permission to apps that you want to function on your phone. but there are apps that can do some of the functionality of tethering without root.

This DOES NOT turn Sense off! Basically this is the same as installing another launcher app like ADW.Launcher or Launcher Pro. Switching to Launcher2 will only disable the app drawer launcher and you would lose access to ONLY HTC widgets. The stock HTC media player, gallery, etc. will still work.

Yes, but I need wireless tether for my iPad. It's not for my laptop or other devices I can tether with a wire.
