Root HTC EVO 4G Unroot Help

I have been reviewing pages of information trying to get my EVO flashed from Hboot 6.16 which is causing a problem connecting to my PC flashed back to 2.1X. I currently have it flashed to Hboot 6.17 and have S-ON. I simply want to put the phone back to factory condition so that we can start the root process over using HTC unlocker. Any help is always appreciated!

not sure you really want to do that. the unlocking method limits you in certain areas. you should keep your hboot. it is much easier to have s-off then unlocked with s-on in my opinion. but first since you have s-on you need to finish the process and then use revolutionary to get you s-off again. here is the guide you will need to use: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html. there is an unrooting section. you might want to try the instructions found in red in step#1. the guide at the moment looks aweful to navigate but i'm working on it to get it back to being more organized. but for now let us know if you have any questions.

whatever you do do not accept the ota. the latest one sucks and is not needed. keep your hboot the way it is.

just an fyi i fixed my guide so that now it is easier to read.

hope you did not do the update as it will be more of a pain to root if you do. either way we can help you if you need it.

I was able to get the phone back to S-ON, however the boot version shows as 6.17. Also since the begining of this saga the phone, when connected to the PC does not come up as my other EVO and is not recognizable by HTC Sync. When connected to the PC shows new hardware of "qualcomm cdma technologies msm". Anyone know how to put the EVO back to factory original state when you cannot use the ADB commands?

all you need to do to finish the process is to use the PC36IMG ruu found in the guide to get the hboot to 2.16 and not 6.17. and there was a usb fix, but you have to be rooted for that. other then a factory reset there is not much you can do with s-on, unfortunately.

I have flashed the phone with the PC36IMG file, and am still at 6.17. I cannot get the phone to recognize commands in fastboot such as getting the OEM token. Not sure what to do with this thing!
