Root Htc evo root advice

Ive had the Evo for a couple months and a guy told me I can root it Ive looked it up and everything and would really like to but is there a risk I might mess it up or something??? and also another question is how can I undo the root if i want? Can i just do a factory reset or is it more complicated than that?

Im new to all this so i really dont know much about any of it so if you could give me some advice Id really appreciate it

There is a sub-forum entitled "all things root". I strongly encourage you to read and then read some more of all the helpful posts the members here have put together. I had the same concerns you mention, but the efforts of the folks here or provided links, put my concerns to rest and guided me through the process.

I did and have enjoyed not only the different ROMs but also the knowledge gained in during the experience. I've explained to personal friends with EVOs rooting is by no means necessary, the phone from the factory is great, but if you are the kind of person who enjoys "tinkering" and learning how things work (and what they are capable of), I would reccomend it. If you think the process is going to DRASTICALLY alter your phone, it will (imho) not. [as the ROMs are based on the 2.1 or 2.2 OS).

Read, re-read and read some more. Lean what rooting will do for you, there are lots of detailed posts including screen shots here and other forums and decide what is best for you. God speed.

i have read and read and i really want to root it but i cant afford something to happen and break my phone i paid too much just to mess it up
