Root HTC Evo Shift Rooting trouble

Hello all.

First I would like to take a moment and say that I have scoured AF.com and many other websites trying to obtain proper instructions on rooting my HTC Evo Shift. This thread is being created in a last ditch effort to rid myself of the stench of failure - I am no novice to rooting, but my experience in the past has been only with Motorola's, cake compared to HTC thus far in my experience.

So here it goes. No frills, no exasperated exhausting shpeel -

Where can I find instructions on rooting the Shift on 2.3? Do they exist? Am I going to need to know how to read code to do it? Am I a complete idiot?

There has not been a root exploit found for gingerbread yet. Only temproot. You cannot load roms or kernals, and all your settings will revert on reboot. There is a thread here about temproot from the other day. let me find it for you....
