Help htc evo v 4g dialing problem

Sometime, when I move my phone colse my face while it is still dialing(after I enter phone numbers, and before I can hear the ring from the earpiece), the signal is dropped to zero suddenly and I cannot make or receive any call unless I restart my phone or update my prl.
I know that is not the signal problem, because I am it does fine if I move my phone colse my face after it finish dialing. Does anyone know how to fix that? since it still within 30 days, should I exchange a new phone?

That sounds really strange. An exchange sounds helpful if you're willing. Have you tried a factory reset already? Also, how much signal do you usually get in your area?
 
Are you sure it is when you put it to your face? I tried 3 different HTC EVO V phones last month and all three had terrible reception and the signal randomly dropped from 5 bars to 0 or 1. Even if the phone was sitting still in one spot.... When that happened the screen would just say dialing and never connect. I was also having calls not ring on the phone, but I was also having calls go to voice mail even when my phone never rang. I am in a great area for coverage and never had a single problem with my LG optimus V.

Last week I swapped back to LG Optimus V and I really can't believe how much better my Optimus V works than any of the other VM phones. I tried the Triumph, Elite, and Evo and none of them worked right. I kept calling VM and they kept saying they were working on problems they had with SPRINT cell towers anf they would reset my phone. It would work ok for a day and then start messing up again. I decided to return it beccause 300 bucks is too much money to waste on a phone that doesn't work right. Don't get me wrong I loved the phone... VM has the problem I think. I was also really disappointed with the speaker too. I could hardly hear it ring unless it was right next to me. You should definitely return it an try another before you are stuck with it.
 
I have had the same exact issue only it seems to be related to WIFI or 4G not the prox sensor. My phone goes to -120 DB Signal 0 bars at random when WIFI or 4G is enabled and I can not place or receive calls/txts... Second phone
