Help HTC EVO V 4G overheating ALL THE TIME

Every once in a while my 4G radio gets stuck. I leave it on, but somehow it turns off and can't be turned back on. When that happens the camera area gets super hot and the battery drains about 1% every couple minutes.

Caused me not to wake up a few times cause my battery died while I was sleeping.

I am stock and rooted.

It just happen to my phone!! Now I'm post what I've encounter, I have one of the eForCity Rubber skin case punched from amazon. Last night I charger my phone with the case on (which I usually does) and when I woke up this morning my 4G was gone away then I realize when the phone is overheat, I cannot connect to my 4G service (when turn on the 4G it will search for couple sec then it will turn off automatically). Then I tried to remove to case but it didn't cool of the phone at all so I decided to shut off the phone.

is there any newer threads or solutions to this issue? i have a stock 2-3 month old evo v thats having all these issues too. i also have a rubber skin from e4city whatever off amazon, probably not related but seen the person above has the same one..

my phone was fine as far as battery life (well, ok) up until the last week id say, now i unplg my phone in the morning around 8:45am and its giving me low batt wrnings by 1-2pm with average use. i dont even talk much mostly text/email

also noticed today my 4g will be off, and if i try to turn it back on it doesnt always work. 4g coverage seem to be pretty shady anyways most the places i usually am

besides being slow and having a small screen and suck camera, my lg optimus v was much more reliable, think my samsung galaxy prevail for boost was too, i might not buy another HTC after this one and my old sprint hero

Well, I was having a similar problem over the weekend--phone suddenly started overheating near the power button, battery life drained to nothing while I watched, no 4G, etc., etc.
I called Virgin Mobile and they're supposed to be sending me a new battery, but I was much more concerned with the heat being generated and why I couldn't connect to 4G.
The tech. admitted that there might have been a 4G problem in my area, but had to "look into it."
So I had a basically useless phone on Saturday, Sunday, and most of Monday. When I got home Monday night, I tried turning on 4G and it suddenly worked. Since then, the phone has been acting normally--no overheating, good battery life, good 4G signal.
I'm guessing the problem was with the towers in my area, but I'll probably never really know for sure. I had a similar problem when I had my Optimus V: one day it just started overheating and the battery dropped to zero within a couple of hours. Next day, I heard that there had been a network outage which caused the problem--phone tried to find a signal that just wasn't there.
I've since learned my lesson--since my signal is almost nonexistent where I work, I put the phone in Airplane mode during the day.

also lower you brightness use a task killer and turn off 4g 3g and wifi when you don't use it

I have found when this happens it is one of two issues. Either I am having issues with signal (on both cellular and WiFi), or there is a rogue app running that won't close. The weather channel app is one of the worst. Hitting the back button doesn't always close that app, instead you have to hit menu->exit.

Not saying TWC app is causing you problem, but I know it has been an issue on my phone. It kept my GPS on for over 3 hours one day, draining my battery down to 20 some odd percent from a full charge. I would be really surprised if a new battery fixes the problem.

i took my back cover off yesterday while my phone was getting hot, the heat is not comming from the battery, its under the camera area im guessing where the processor/memory chips are

think the only running apps when i checked at the time were messages, contacts, browser, settings

Using a task killer on any version of Android after FroYo will actually cause a greater battery loss because of having to reload apps back into memory, the OS does just fine managing resources on it's own.

i use the quik launch type bar thing to keep the screen only as bright as i need and keep off BT, wifi, gps unless i need it. somthing else is going on

wait so task killer burns the battery more...hmmm... a phone guy at best buy said it saves battery... what do i do then?

Let the OS handle it, Android since version 2.2 handles memory very well. It keeps track of your most used apps and keeps them in memory for quicker starting and less power consumption. If you launch an app that requires more resources the system will then clear up memory on it's own. Being kept in memory doesn't use clock cycles like loading an app does so overall your system uses less power and runs faster if left to its own devices. >pun intended<
