HTC Gingerbread update.

Got my update.. so far so good. Nothing has broken yet.. HAHA.. WIFI is good and no issues. I kinda like the new App draw and the way it is blocked out.. and all the menus seems smoother...

Will post if I get some other issue. Also the person about the WIFI issue, the issue is with the device not being able to connect or stay connected to a WIFI router. I am not sure what is wrong with your device not connecting to the WIFI. Check all your settings, there is a "improve wifi" settings, go into the WIFI setting and press menu.. you can try that...

Impressed so far with the update (3 unbranded, apparently!). I've noticed a few things so far. Everything seems to be faster compared to pre-update, and it will be interesting to see if the reboot issue is cleared up with Gingerbread. Speakers are louder too, and I like the new power consumption graph.

All working well here no problems. The speaker does seem to be loader and I like the new notifications. The sound on the weather app is fun

Hey guys,
downloaded the update today but while trying to install the update when the phone restarted it crashed. It showed a pic with the phone and an ! on it. It happened twice. I live in Germany.
Does anybody knows what's wrong???
Thanks....

Interesting.. there is a new app in the app draw called "Download"... just shows your recent downloads..

Also it is funny they have not change the "Remove App" name when you sit the menu button on the app draw... Should be "Manage Apps"... HAHAHA

got my desire hd updated today, everything works better and so far the battery seems to be lasting longer. seems like the os handles apps and shutting them down alot better. 1 bad point to mention is that none of my emulators work now, so no more psx or genesis games for me :( hopefully this gets sorted out with app updates

Not noticed anything significant with battery yet but liking the LinkedIn for HTCSense. Makes life easier for me

I just got the gingerbread update and installed it on my desire hd..
I have to use a password because i use my exchange mail on the phone.

But the problem is now after installation when I want to enter the password the keyboard doesn't appear.

What to do??

Urgent help required...

Got my update - Orange UK Branded - everything went like a peach!!
All icons stayed, screen appears brighter, ring volume definitly louder.

swiping between screens seems smoother and faster. Lots of small changes to the UI.

Like the filters when displaying all apps.

updated mine last night love the new app section and i got a new battery widget too which is handy-i assume coz its there own one it wont slow thigns down?

screen seems bright too

Nope nothing.

The keyboard keeps appearing for a sec but i can't type with it :( :(

Try rebooting your phone (take battery out).

You can also download a new keyboard from the market, use it as your default, uninstall it.. hopefully it will go back to the normal HTC one. But yea I have never heard of this problem.

Also regarding the long press on menu, looks like HTC has disable this in the new version

If you switch the phone off, take the battery out then hold the Menu button when you switch it on the phone should then enter safe mode. From there you should be able to disable the custom keyboard you have and get it all working again.

How did you manage to get that? When i checked my device (Orange UK Branded) it said there are not updates available so I am still on 2.2.1

Don't know, just checked for updates and bingo - System update has been detected.......

Android Version 2.3.3
HTC sense 2.1

anyone else on Orange still waiting like me? This sucks balls man... my girlfriend has a Samsung Galaxy S on Orange contract in the UK, same as me and I connected her phone to our laptop about 3 weeks ago and it updated straight away via the Samsung kieys software... why the hell am I still waiting today??

I took the innitiative and phoned Orange to see what there take is and the guy said no android devices on Orange have 2.3 yet, so if thats the case why does my girlfriends Samsung on Orange have it?? idiots at Orange or what. So he goes on to say that they are aware of the problem and the demand is high, they still have no firm date for when Android 2.3 will be released so I simply said I'd call back again in a couple weeks.

I checked on HTC's site and the only download you can get for it is the HTC Sense program dated January, no seperate drivers or anything so I guess I can ONLY get it when Orange pull their fingers out of their collective asses.... wonderful!

So how nigsy got the update is baffelling me totally, mines an orange branded HTC Desire HD and still nothing!!

Hey everyone...

I am also on Orange (UK) and I have now downgraded and debranded my phone to get rid of all that horrible bloatware...

Will this affect my ability to receive the Gingerbread update? I keep checking other posts and google but I keep getting conflicting answers.

Edit: Oh and do I need to use my goldcard everytime I update OTA? I can only find old posts about it when I search...

Thanks!

Sorry not sure how to take a screen shot from my phone....but here's my Orange UK HD upgraded to gingerbread!!!

Not rooted or anything silly got it on OTA today. Don't ask me how it just found the update and hey presto!!

Photo taken with my Samsung S which has been on GB for some time now (T- Mobile)

ok so you checked the update or it just told you it had found one auto?? I go into settings, then "about phone" and then System Software Updates and nothing. I have cycled the power of my phone about 8 times. Is it worth disconnecting from the network and reconnecting? When I look at my Software information page it looks different to yours, it doesn't mention htc sense and obviously still says Android version 2.2.1. Such a pain in the ass!!

I did the same as you - setting > system updates etc and it popped up straight away??

Maybe the server got overloaded, that happened with Samsung Kies when everyone tried to update.

I'm going to stand here and gloat for a while :p
