HTC Gingerbread update.

Still nothing for Telus.

Cheers, I'll keep an eye out for any threads related to that too. Hopefully having individual threads will help Orange/3/Telus users having to follow the post-release discussion in here :)

Still nothing for Telus.

I'm on Telus as well and I rooted mine last week. It wasn't that difficult, and their is a dedicated thread on XDA for us DHD Telus users. I was less than an hour from start to finish and that included flashing a new rom! Here is the Link.

The problem with waiting for the update is once it is available on Telus, sense 3.0 will already be on a couple devices and it will still feel like it's out of date.

A lot of the roms now have Sense 3.0 incorporated in them!

Still nothing for me on an orange contract phone either! I've reset and power cycled, removed the sim, battery, sd card etc etc countless times and still nothing. Takes the piss that its been over a month now and still nothing, how pathetic is that?

Alternative to waiting for carrier branded firmware (that has all of the carrier bloatware on it) would be to root (http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-all-things-root/354749-how-root-install-custom-rom-desire-hd.html) and upgrade to a Gingerbread ROM - you can find a Stock HTC one, if you don't want to use a custom one.

I know that rooting isn't for everyone, but at least you'd be on GB! :)

EDIT - if you went for a stock HTC one, you should still be able to get updates in future... not sure whether they'd be OTA or if you'd have to grab them from the HTC website though!

Could anyone tell me when gingerbread is coming on 3 plz?

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the answer to that question is no. If it's public knowledge you should be able to find out yourself by searching Google, but likely no one will know until they have it.

What do Orange say?

I had a lot of trouble with Orange with my 1st smartphone.
I vowed never to buy a Operator branded phone again. Too many problems and delays due to them putting restrictions (and junk) on the way I can use my smartphone.

So it is finally here? A Telus Gingerbread update?! I am scared. Please post back results!

Did the Telus Gingerbread update 3 days ago and upgrade was successful. Everything still works perfectly, haven't noticed a single problem.

Noticed that I could download the 2.3 update through Telus today.... Still on the fence about it; I'm nervous because of all the horror stories. =/

ok I finally got my gingerbread this morning, when did it actually release? I checked at some point last week and nothing, checked this morning and it finally came through, thankfully everything seems fine, installed no problems and nothing was messed up. All looks to be performing better than before and I now have lots of new HTC widgets/apps to choose from as well as a few nice new touches.

So anyway my situation is this: I'm a contract customer with Orange and I've had my HTC Desire HD since about March, the update finally came through when I checked at about 10.30am today so hopefully everyone else in my sitch will get it tooo happy upgrading!!

I am in the same boat as you. My DHD has been serving me wonderfully. I often get 15 - 24 hrs of battery life we moderate usage.

I see some advantages to update the phone, better brightness, better sounds, a bit quicker, and better battery life. But I also see a bunch of downsides that people have been reporting out of Canada for the most part.

anyone notice when scrolling through apps on gingerbread? Its not smooth like it was on Froyo. You move the page down and it automatically goes down a whole page instead of just line by line. This is my only complaint so far.

It's a "change" not a problem. Unless of course you thought the old way to do things was better .... :D Personally I think the new way is better as you could scroll too fast and miss what you wanted. Though that's probably just me .... :o
