I'm using the HTC Desire HD, and use the standard camera app to take pics with it, and I prefer to use the touch-screen to take the pic rather than the physical button. Most of the time this works fine - I point the camera at a subject, a little white square appears in the middle of the screen (I think this is to do with auto-focus - if I turn off auto-focus, I don't get that), and I can take my pic.
Sometimes, though, the phone is really cranky about taking pics. I'll see the image in the main screen, I get all the buttons at the bottom of the screen, but none of them are responsive. I can't even use the back arrow to get out of the app.
I wondered if it was trying, and failing, to focus - but even turning auto-focus off doesn't cure it. I can eventually do it by pointing at various subjects - near, far and so on - and eventually it all works again. It seems to "go through phases" of doing this - some days it works fine, others it sticks like this on most photos.
Any suggestions? It's been working fine today so I can't try out the obvious step of using the physical button instead of the soft button, though obviously I'll try that next time it freezes up (I'm so used to using the soft button I'd *forgotten* there was a physical button until I started typing this post!)
