HTC Hero CDMA bricked?

I have seen a few threads about bricking... my Hero is showing the symptoms of a brick, but I'm hoping someone can help.

I am kind of a noob, but I successfully rooted my phone a few months ago. I was using the nov 21st nightly of cm6, and just wanted to update to the dec 31st build.

I rebooted into recovery and installed the new zip from the sd card and the little guy jumping out of the box happened and everything went black. uh oh.

Pressing the power button does nothing. I plugged my phone into my pc and my computer doesn't recognize it.

If I take the battery out and plug in the USB, the LED light will come on.... it was showing amber, but turned green after about an hour... so I think it's accurately showing the battery life. If I press the end button, the LED turns off. I can only get it to turn back on if I take the battery out, unplug the USB, insert battery, plug in USB.

any tips?? or is it a lost cause?

It is Tough to brick your phone...and if all you did was flash the CMDA Cm6 its not bricked.

sounds like you battery is TOAST.......let it sit on the charger....OFF for a few hours then try to boot into recovey
 
I'll give it a try.... but it doesn't seem like a battery problem to me. I charged it for a few hours and the LED went from amber to green. anytime I hit the power button whether it's plugged in or not, the LED turns off completely.

I will definitely give it a go, though. Any advice is welcome! Thank you!
 
Create a Nandroid backup, then flash your phone again and see how it responds and report back

so....I charged it for a while on the wall charger. about 30 min after a green LED, I tried turning it on. It still doesn't even try to boot. Any other ideas?

Unfortunately, I can't get it to boot up at all. I can't get it into recovery mode, can't access the device from my pc... nothing. no sign of life beyond the LED. Nothing happens when I push buttons... any combination of buttons.... other than the power button. as soon as I press the power button, the LED turns off and won't turn back on unless I remove the battery and then put it back in and plug in the phone.
 
Did it get wet ?? I would still try doing as MHC mentioned take into a sprint store and have them check your battery, since you are rooted for now that is all you can do, otherwise they won't touch your phone, you can also simply take the battery in and have them check it
 
it hasn't gotten wet. I had no problems with the battery before. Everything was fine until I tried to update. I will try taking the battery in. I'm feeling a bit discouraged...
 
Don't feel discourage your phone is not bricked, do you have another charger, this way you can eliminate that to start
