HTC Hero in Minnesota

Hello. I just got my Hero on Thursday and I love it. I've been on Qwest wireless in Minnesota for years with a very old phone. They are ending their wireless service Oct 31st and forcing everyone to move to Verizon (for whom they are now a reseller/partner), or jump ship to another carrier. I stalled as long as I could to see if Verizon would come out with a phone I liked, since their coverage and service is excellent locally. But they didn't, and when the HTC Hero was released by Sprint on Oct 11th, I ordered one.

Thought about the iPhone but I hate AT&T and also don't really like the "our way or the highway" mentality of Apple, much prefer an open platform. Also AT&T seems to be struggling to handle the network traffic and has a lousy service rating locally. I depend on my phone for business use (work from home), so network reliability is critical to me.

So, after a few days of playing with the phone, I think it is great and am looking forward to customizing it with many new apps and settings, with the help of great forums like this one.

PS GO VIKINGS (6-0)!!

Welcome. Two things:

  1. I think you'll love Android... you're going to wonder how you lived for so long with an "old" phone!
  2. I am a Baltimore Ravens fan and just banned you from the forum. Sorry but goodbye forever. LOL jk... man what a GREAT game followed by a TERRIBLE end. I = depressed.

Ravens are a tough team, Vikes were lucky to win. Although the 4Q comeback was partly because Antoine Winfield was out and his backup Paymah was overmatched at CB. If Winfield hadn't gotten hurt it might not have been as close of a game, I think he wouldn't have allowed some of those big plays at the end.

I'm sure the Ravens will be in the playoffs, Flacco and Rice are really good.
