HTC Incredible - not seeing a viable replacement on the Horizon

Just as there will be phones that will "kill" the "thunderbolt". Unless you're willing to spend thousands, you'll have the latest and greatest for all of about 15 minutes.

Yes ... I personally would not own an Android phone without Sense UI on it. I tried using a vanilla rom and found it did not suit me at all. I do know other people who have bought Droid X's and tell me that they bought the wrong phone, they should have gotten one "like the Incredible". When my GF was looking for a new phone we went to the ATT store and looked at the slim offerings. She picked the Aria because of its smaller size and because of the Sense UI. Sense UI is a factor in a lot of Android sales.

It isnt for everyone but choice is never a bad thing.

That is very true, and it's what separates Android from everything else out there. It's about choice. I'm new to the Incredible, but it sounds like there are Sense-based ROMs out there for those who want them. It all makes Android the best operating system for smart phones!
 
2 year contract ftl. I say this all the time and still get one anyway.
No one in my house is due for an upgrade anytime soon either, I really just want a bigger screen
 
I'm all over the Thunderbolt a.k.a. Incredible HD. I've been watching this phone since it's alleged leak and I have wanted it since!

Only scares me with LTE and Verizon's pricing plan when THAT comes out. I'm SURE they'll figure a way to make us pay through the nose for it.
 
I think sense is what makes the incredible a great phone. I downloaded adw and found myself missing sense. The calendar and agenda widgets are the best for me.
 
I agree with the OP, nothing about the new devices makes me want to jump ship immediately and im usually one for getting a new phone whenever it comes out. Love my Incredible!
 
I'm just happy that the Dinc is so open-source. If you like Sense and want to use it, you can. If you don't like it and want to use something completely different you can. To each his own.

I must admit that the overall performance of my Incredible improved substantially using CyanogenMod over stock Sense UI.
 
My .02 is that my current Incredible is my benchmark moving forward and that includes size and performance. I hope that we do not see a full on market blitz toward these bigger phones as I simply don't like them.

I would love incremental improvements to this current platform (ala Iphone), not to eliminate FUD about newer devices or to keep up with the Jones's by always having the latest and the greatest but simply because I love this phone as is.

Keep the form factor too (if you weren't already alluding to that). I should be able to use the same accessories for at one upgrade.

I can't be the only one who doesn't want a humongous cell phone, right? I have to carry this thing around with me all day, I don't want a 9-inch screen. The Droid X is too big. Anything bigger than the Inc is probably too big. The Inc itself is bordering on too big.

If I wanted a tablet I'd buy a Galaxy tab.
 
Having had my Dinc for just a few weeks now (former owner of Moto Droid OG, and bought my Dinc on eBay as a *tide-me-over* phone), I am looking forward to moving to a greater HTC device since I do appreciate my Dinc's performance in its rooted, over-clocked and de-bloated state, and it seems that HTC is my best bet if I want a root-friendly, ROM-friendly device.

The one thing that I don't like about it (and it's more of an HTC thing) is the cheap plastic feeling I get holding it. This is made worse by how the plastic door *creaks* almost all the time. Not only does it feel cheap, it SOUNDS cheap! Not saying the Dinc is a cheaply made phone, just that I hope HTC will construct future phones better and without the *cheap feel*.

I'm not too sure about LG, but Samsung makes the most plasticky phone i have ever seen. You should avoid that. HTC is still pretty balanced.

Couldn't agree more. Might as well go back to bag phones if they're all going to be betamax machine size.

I agree. If the current trend continues, we'll all be holding devices the size of an iPad up to our ear when we make a call. ;-) If anything, I want the same size screen, but a thinner and lighter device. Not bigger.
 
I wanted a tablet with phone capabilities!!!! When you get older you need a larger screen to see and enjoy all the features.
 
I am also hoping that they continue making smaller phones. I have tiny hand and fingers and have no desire to carry around something with a huge screen.
 
I think most people want a phone around the 3.5inch mark. I thought I was one of those people too, until I started playing with my mother's DX. Now I am thinking a 5inch screen would be perfect for me. If I had a 5inch phone I would probably never use my laptop again. The large screens are great for older people and people with dexterity issues. I am neither of those... just want an all in one.

On that note, I went into Best Buy the other day to kill some time, and got a Dell streak in my hands. Holy crap that thing is huge! I could never use a phone that big again! I felt like I'd be holding a portable TV to my head!

I'm in the 3.5" or so crowd. I thought that the 4.0" Galaxy phones were just a tad too large. Any kind of case would make them too bulky for me. The 3.7" on my Incredible is perfect when in a case, just slightly smallish without. And since I prefer having my phone in a case, 3.5"-3.8" is for me.
