It is my story from yesterday and final question is: Do the service people on calling center know what is their job?
Yesterday after more than two hours of explaining a problem in the store Best Buy where all four people didn't know what is GPS and how it works, than AT&T where they gave me a phone number where should be done about 20 minutes but when I finished talk was 1 hour and 19 minutes and after 30 minutes one person call back for the final decision which was sent a phone to the HTC service because I didn't want to swap my phone with refurbished one.
BTW one person on the AT&T start to try setup my Bluetooth??? The other one want to knows my bars and than explain that I am far from the tower??? When I told her that we have two phones and the other one works she shut up!!!

Thank you for service like this one.

Believe it or not, I am having the exact same problem. GPS for my Inspire has been non-existent. I actually had a Captivate before this and you know the rest of the story with that one... Now I have the new Inspire and it is giving me the same issues. I have been to two different corporate ATT stores and tried it on multiple HTC Inspire phones there and would you believe it... a lot of the phones have this issue.

A great app to use to see the connectivity is called "GPS Status". This will show you a real-time display of the satellites your phone is hooked up to. The icon is grey with an orange satellite on it.

On my visit today to a corporate ATT store, I had them pull out a brand new Inspire and try and connect. The new Inspire barely had 1 or 2 connections. The actual Inspire floor model was connecting to around 7 satellites. We would hold all 3 phones (mine included) side by side and only the floor model was able to connect to a bunch of satellites.

We might have another Captivate issue on our hands. The workers at ATT were baffled and had no idea what to do. Obviously I would exchange it for a new one, but the new one has the same issue.

They gave me a number to call to get advanced technical support, so I will call that tonight to see what they can do.

If anyone finds out anything regarding this, please hit me up at joe3436 * hotmail * com

I spoke to HTC last night and they said it is a known issue and they are working on a fix. Once they figure it out, they will roll it out with an update. Terrible... It's the Samsung Captivate story all over again... unreal!

I have had two iphones before this. I wanted something new and my brother has the evo and loves it. So I now have the inspire and my gf got the iPhone 4. Phone is awesome but gps is very inconsistent at best. The gosh status seems to help it lock which makes me.think its not hardware. I have the latest update from HTC but it still sucks. Very disappointed. My gf's locks on almost instantly..... I was really hoping to not have this type of android experience....

The reason why the floor model works better than yours is because it sits there all day, possibly with the GPS on all day, for weeks and weeks. After finally obtaining the position, it will never need to figure out a new position because it hasn't moved.

Are you sure they will roll out an update? Its going to take them at least 3 or 4 months to do that since AT&T is pretty stupid when it comes to updates.
