My HTC inspire 4G simply refuses to enter into mass storage mode. I have made sure multiple times that disk drive mode is in fact selected and that my usb cable is data enabled ( my usb worked perfectly with my friend's Htc Thunderbolt using the same computer ). I have tried restarting my phone and my computer and i have made sure fast boot is not selected. HTC usb drivers and HTC sync are installed even though I'm certain that they are not needed just to enable my device as a disk drive. Also I have tried toggling between usb debugging enabled and disabled and something seems to happen when it is enabled because my phone will display usb debugging connected but HTC sync will not recognize (I did try selecting HTC sync mode ). I have even undertaken the painstaking task of finding one of those stupid star shaped screwdrivers and disassembling my phone to examine the usb port more closely only to find that there doesn't seem to be any loose connections. The only thing my phone does when i plug it in is charge and my windows 7 desktop will display a Balloon Notification that says usb device not recognized. I have tried to update the drivers manually in Device Manager by changing the drivers from an unknown device to a mass storage device and nothing happened so I changed it back. I just read somewhere that turning wifi off would help but it didn't work. So, finally I got so fed up that I tried formatting the sd card and resetting my phone both through the settings and with the hardware keys nothing has changed
