Hey guys, im after a little help with the location widget (the one for sharing your location etc)

i recently bought a new memory card (16gb class 10) i have reinstalled maps to the new SD card,
if i open up the location app it self from the menu it works fine, and everything in the app seems to work,

But.... the widget doesnt seem to be working as it cant find my location and jus keeps coming up as its updating... and thats it, ive tried re-installing, rebooting but still no joy,
is there anyone who has had this or knows of a fix,

any help is most appreciated

Maybe a silly question, but was it working before and was it on phone, rather than the SD card?

hi bud,

yes it was working before, as for on the SD card im not 100% but i just used the option the phone gave me me to reinstall the locations app

You might want to wait to see if anyone else has any ideas, but perhaps if, instead of installing to the SD card, you tried installing to the phone, it may work... not 100% sure, but that's at least one possibility?!?

iv just had a flick thru when you mention about it being installed to the SD card which got me thinking, so i took a look and i think it installs it back to the phone as default,

Fair enough... I only thought I'd suggest that as you'd mentioned that it was installed to the SD card... not sure what to suggest - I'm sure that someone on here will have the answer though!! :D

i have jus noticed that on the widget it comes up MAP DATA UNAVAILABLE

not really sure wot that means

I had a similar issue where the map for the UK kept failing to download. I called the HTC helpline who advised me to connect to the phone with usb cable, go to the .data folder and delete the entire 'navigation' folder. After this power down phone, remove battery and when you re-start you'll be prompted to download the entire locations app again....

I've had to contact HTC again as my maps are still missing - they now own up and tell me the server is having problems resulting in maps not being downloaded.

I figured this was the issue, but the telephone support team insisted it was my phone. Result is i've performed a factory reset and have to re-install everything all because they had an issue they didnt own up to. cheers guys !

I have problems downloading maps too, and HTC sent me an email to say this:

'Our servers is overburdened at the moment. The large amount of users trying to download maps, is causing the slowness right now. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you, HTC is working as fast as they can to solve this issue,'

yeah i do like google nav, it works spot on, but its more the fact its there and not working that bugs hell hav me,

But what about if you are travelling abroad? you need to pay roaming charges for using Google nav, is not it? i do not understand why would you want to incur roaming charges, can be sooooo dear I know that for fact!
At home I agree that Google nav is the best but not when you are travelling I would think!
