Help HTC M8 Camera not working (blank screen)

Hey. Iv a problem with my HTC M8, it happened about a week ago, all of a sudden when i went into my camera app the app would load but then go black then back to the homescreen.

I turned the phone on and off a few times and this didnt clear the problem. The "selfie" camera still works.

I am currently backing up my phone to do a factory reset. Is there anything i can do before i do a reset?

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Yes, definitely.

Volume down + power while powering on, use onscreen instructions to navigate to HBOOT and from there to RECOVERY.

Wipe the cache partition, reboot - no data will be lost.

If still failing, clear cache for all of your HTC apps, Google Play Services (if the current version will let you), the Play Services Framework, and the System UI.

If still failing, reboot without sd card.

See if any of that saves the extra step.

I did exactly as you said. When i went into the camera app the camera must be at fault as its bringing up the picture but its a purple screen with a load of lines. Faulty camera then?
