Help HTC m8 settings

i have a new htc m8 and i seem to have a problem with it remembering my sound settings for phone, and alarm in particular, also brightness.

I have been in touch with a few htc agents and gone through the resetting routine etc, however I am still having to check these settings every day, sometimes twice a day.

Any help would be appreciated
