Help HTC M8 sound

Hi

When I get a message or email when the phone is locked I get a notification sound, if I then unlock the phone and then get another notification there is no sound only vibrate. To get the sound back on I have to close the phone, lock it and then it works. I'd like sounds on at all times if that is possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my first attempt at android after years of iOS

Go to all apps,settings.sounds.Make sure all volumes are turned up,also check use ringtone volume for notifications.Also text messages and Email have settings that may need adjusted within the apps themselves.Open those also and check sound,notification settings.

All the above done but still no sound if phone is unlocked

Have you tried rebooting the phone?Do you have the messages open or email opened at the time you are getting no sounds?I've had this happen on other devices only when viewing messages or mail.

Do you have any bluetooth devices connected to the phone?

Thanks for the responses.
Phone locked, message received with tone

If not unlocked to check and another notification comes through then so does tone

If phone is unlocked and another notification is received then no sound

If app is opened and another notification comes through then no sound

I have to unlock it, review message / email and then lock screen again for sounds to start working

I've rebooted the phone and only BT device is my car which is out of range

Only other thing I can think of is to try turning off bluetooth?Maybe an app you have installed is causing it?If not then you might take it to your closest carriers store to see what they have to say about the problem.

I think I've sorted it. I'd installed open mike +. I've deleted it and all seems to be working as it should be. Any ideas of another app that does the same as open mike +

if you're using it in the car then try Car Mode - that has a speech search thing, which is what I assume open mike + does

Just found the visualiser in the music app. I'm sold on android now lol

I am also having problems with the e-mail notifications. I purchased my first Android Phone a HTC one M8 after using the iphone 4S for 3 years. I do not get e-mail notification sound. I've tried all settings; within the e-mail app as well as the general settings. Very much frustrated as I need to get instant work e-mail notifications.

Please help!!
