Ok.. Ive been dorking with my EVO since June 7th and the HTC mail app would not automatically sync. Everytime I would have to go in and do a manual refresh. (Yes I decided I like the HTC mail app over the stock gmail app) Anyway, I deleted the account numerous times and tried everything. I called HTC tonight and the guy had me go into my phone settings "accounts & sync" and go into the google settings and uncheck "Sync gmail". It works like a charm now. No more manual refresh!!! Cannot believe that. But anyways, thought someone may have the same problem and now you know how to fix.
