HTC needs a new designer

htc create an extended battery for it's thunderbolt due to crappy battery life. we now have the 2750mAh battery, I even seen a battery that's almost 2 times the size of that by another company. those battery extenders don't look to classy. This just makes the phone seem cheap.

How about a better designed phone? with maybe like amoled screen? amoled is the best when it comes to battery life and the display quality is top notch as well. The kickstand is nice, but without it possibly more room for a bigger battery? You cannot plug the phone in to be charged while using the kickstand? now is this just stupid or what? why not put the USB plug in anywhere but where you need the kickstand?

The kickstand is a good idea, but why is mine peeling? you spend all this money on a phone and have to deal with this kind of crap.

Light seepage on bottom of phone and top right corner, does htc not know how to measure out everything to fit perfect?


HTC should copy off Samsung, like put together a Smartphone.
 
Use a penny and scrape off the coating on the kickstand copper is softer than the kickstand so it won't scratch
 
The only thing I thought of (aside from "buy a Samsung then, geez), was ... what about the Evo, the Incredible, all the other phones HTC made that were pretty solid? Every Mfr. has good and bad phones. Using one model with questionable features, or quirks, to condemn the company is just, for lack of a better word, silly.

i use my kickstand all the time while charging. So to say you can't use it while charging is a lie.

The problems the Evo had make the Thunderbolt look like a completely perfect phone. FYI the Thunderbolt has better battery life than the Incredible and the Evo.

I concur they do need a new designer. Although I definitely prefer my Tbolt to the Fruit you can not deny the Fruits amazing industrial design. The points the OP made in the original post are all quite valid in my opinion. In addition:


  • The bezel and battery cover are really thin and cheap material. They scratch easily.
  • The battery cover is way to difficult to remove, even using a penny will dent and cosmetically damage the cover.
  • The On/Off button is placed terribly and is of very low quality
These are issues of ergonomics and good design and HTC could use a lot of improvement here.
 
I don't understand why people keep posting they can't charge the phone while using the kickstand, I charge mine all the time while using the kickstand....more than one way to skin a cat and all that ;-)

I do agree about the amoled screen though, my co-worker has a Samsung Charge and I am extrememly jealous of her screen, but the Charge feels really cheap in the hand, real plasticky, sorry know that is not a word, but it is what comes to mind....

The battery cover is a pain in the arse to remove!
