Root HTC One (M8) Boot Loop

http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...40.45.C33065.00_F_release_426617_signed_2.exe

Are you familiar with the song by Rickie Lee Jones called The Last Chance Texaco?

This is it.

That's hot off the press from HTC - and if successful, will take you right up to the latest AT&T M8 Lollipop.

There's no way your firmware is newer and HTC insists that this is for your phone.

Fingers crossed compadre!

Wicked!.. Downloading now. Will take a while. Working with 300-400 KB/Sec.

Same Error.

Error:155 Unknown Error.

Get correct RUU.

Something else is wrong.. The phone won't accept any RUU for some reason. So frustrating.

Yep - you're out of publicly available options too.

Your phone has to get to a qualified service center.

I put in a lot of hours on this one so I share your frustration but we've tried everything and it is what it is.

You may try your local AT&T service center first.

Another member recently ran into a hardware problem with his and AT&T didn't care if it was rooted. They replaced it for him.

If that's not appealing, contact HTC.

If it's not coincidentally a hardware issue that's really holding this up, they can flash it on the bench, no problem. We were constrained with our options because it's s-on.

Sorry, there's no third way.

Okay.... wow.

A little confused on exactly what I have to do.

TWRP already flashed.

ROM is on Micro SD card.

If I try to install with TWRP as usual, it fails.

boot.img was flashed. Shouldn't this be done prior to attempting the ROM install?

BTW.. AT&T service center couldn't flash the ROM. I went today. They told me that HTC may be able to do it. AT&T gave me a number for HTC that was helpful. I spoke to a seemingly knowledgeable person who took down a bunch of information about the phone like the IMEI, radio #, unlocked status, s-on status etc. He also took down info about my PC like OS and browser type and version.

OK, that's different - let's end the pain.

If they couldn't fix it with the service tech bench tools that we don't have, it's best to not waste any more of your time.

Sorry for the confusion.

For future reference, there's no criticality as to when the boot.img is flashed but I've seen far fewer boot up errors if done after the rom.

Keep us posted on how it goes!

Yeah.. I figured there was something beyond our power that was wrong when they couldn't fix it.

I've got my fingers crossed with the HTC Escalation Team who should be contacting me tomorrow or Tuesday.

I've looked through this thread twice... And didn't see it suggested, but have you tried turning signature verification off in TWRP and then trying to install the rom @EarlyMon suggested again?

Plus - no AT&T RUU will save it.

Have you seen this before LV?
No. :( i have not. As long as the ruu is greater than or equal to the current firmware version it should work no problems. (And if they were s-off, any ruu should work)

Nice!

Have to believe that the AT&T gang made the same error - they would have locked it but not unlock it again.

Crossing those fingers, waiting to hear from you later.

Danged good thing LV chimed in and revitalized the discussion or we'd have never caught this. :)

YES YES YES.

I am forever in your debt, EarlyMon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CASE CLOSED

I have my phone again!

One little mistake. Trying to use the RUU with an unlocked phone. Could have saved a lot of your time, had I followed instructions more stringently.

Nevertheless, you are a genius. You have taught me quite a bit during this thread, and I am forever grateful.

androidforums.com is the shit.

And - you already updated TWRP - well done! :)
Id like to see if you can help me.
Have a HTC One M8 International Version no Root, and was working Fine, all of a sudden it turned off and wont go back on again, at times it flashes led indicator on green or orange (times blinking/at times solid) just vibrates as trying to get it on.
i manage to get the screen to work but i just keeps rebboting after 10 secs even if i power it off it will turn on and keeps rebooting, im able to get to hboot menu but no furthermore, wont go to recovery at all, and will restart boot loop when chose any option (fast boot, reboot or recovery).

Help please since it is not root, quite sure it hasnt been erased rom nor even partition cache.

You need to flash a recovery via adb/fastboot. Are you familiar with using that?

You'd have been fixed on the RUU before this lma0. :D

Congrats on the fix! :)

We're you able to fix it? My phone was infected with what I believe to be a fork bomb and now it won't even power on.
