Help HTC One M8 compared to M8X

Can any one do me the favour of explaining the difference between a HTC One M8 and a HTC One M8X?? I bought the M8X as a grey import into Australia from Taiwan..

Do you think there will be any repercussions apart from warranty? Google fails me when I try to search M8X. I gather M8 Roms might not work either. Grrr
 
What is the difference does anyone know? Is this Taiwanese grey import going to come back and bite me. It already looks like some ROMS wont work..

The signal bandwidths are exactly the same, that's all I checked before buying. But weirdly the M8X doesn't bring any results on google, wtf?

Mine is M8x version also. So far no issue on custom ROM.
 
I believe it base on region.

I from Malaysia and my set is label as M8x at box.

I can assure M8x is standard international no telco specific version as Malaysia original set (Not AP) never have telco branded phone.

Which ROM you find don't work? All international ROM (no telco specific) is working, unless you mean that 4.4.3 leak ROM, that ROM is Hong Kong base test ROM where they might no official release anymore as HTC had mention decide straight went over 4.4.4 It is not international standard ROM. If you really want that, just change your CID to SuperCID.
 
Ok cheers it weirded me out that it even says M8X on the loading screen but shouldn't make much of a difference by the sounds of things. Just a regionisation..

What does AP mean. Are you saying this is the standard international model and that Telcos in country's then change/remove the X in the model name?

AP naming seems only appear in Malaysia and Singapore.

It is set from others county and not warranty by manufacturer but only the shop itself.

Malaysia set (not AP) always pick the most standard set without branding.
