Root HTC One M8 Sprint rooted won't boot to os

Take phone to full charge. The PC exe RUU could take a while.

Put phone in FASTBOOT USB mode.

Execute the above file.

If it fails, try relocking the bootloader. Go to sdk-tools:

fastboot oem lock

Run the exe again.

All good in the hood! Now I can get rooted again install TWRP and do a backup immediately and confirm it is in restore.

And you know, if you're interested - that stock rom is just the ticket if you want to go up to Sunshine s-off, now, or in the future thanks to your nandroid backup.

I want to personally thank and congratulate you for your patience, perseverance, and willingness to follow instructions.

It's been 3 or 4 days but it's seemed like more because you ended up having to try almost every trick in the book.

Maybe one of the other guys could have helped quicker getting you to that exe ruu - I just helped you work it by the numbers based on my experience.

We owe a special shout out to @TylerToast - who was in a similar predicament the week before. I was hair pulling and throwing in the towel when he got the RUU working for him. It's very rare for us to lose an HTC, and he was an inspiration for this problem. Otherwise, I might not have gone on past the zip RUU.

Sorry for the Academy Awards speech, I just wanted to be sure to give all credit due.

Great speech!!!!!! Just got back and wanted to give an update. I am rooted and have installed TWRP multirom and SuperSu updated. What started this ordeal is I want to use my phone as a hot spot for my laptop and since I have unlimited data as part of my plan don't feel I should pay twice for it. So, how would I go about this?

I haven't used tethering in a long time - I tried a week or two ago just to see if I could remember how - and - I can't. Sorry.

I did a quick search, all I could find were methods for 4.4.2 roms ONLY - wish I had a better answer.

No worries.

You can use it to tether from 3G right from the defaults. Pretty simple.

Didn't test 4G.

I know this post is more than a year old, but what 808 went thru appears to be very similar to what I'm dealing with right now.
I'm trying to flash my One M8 through the HBOOT Menu, with the zip on the SD card (The zip was renamed as it was supposed to, 0P6BIMG.zip).
When I select HBoot from the Fastboot menu and it begins the process, I get the "device halted due to large image update fail" message. I'm trying the latest OS version for the phone with Sense 7, as the 4.20.531.5 version straight up wouldn't work when I tried to flash it. I am not sure how to proceed from here or how to utilize this information, but it appears to have worked for 808.
