Help HTC One M8 Stuck in host Mode won't charge

Hi I have had the phone since first released from Verizon and never had an issue. Tonight I went to charge and I keep getting message "Phone is in Host Mode and cannot charge". I am not rooted and have never seen this. Tried searching forums but didn't see thread. The battery will not charge when I plug in to the wall or PC. I tried rebooting and no luck. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hello mate , i had exact same problem what i did was - going to App manager , finding app named HTCmode and force stoping it or disabling . wahtever you prefer .
I know its kinda late but if anyone could aprove it works for them ill be glad .
Good day to all.

I have been having the same problems with my HTC one - battery won't charge, USB host mode, docking, phone appears to be charging when NOT plugged in, speaker phone goes off by itself and phone randomly goes into car mode. I am on my 4th phone with 5th on the way! Obviously HTC is ignoring these problems because they are rampant and on different models! Don't pay them to "fix" your phone because they obviously don't know what they are doing! Complain LOUDLY! I have been able to get mine to function but problems continue to recur. Unfortunately it takes persistence and what works one time my not work the next. Sometimes I am able to restart the phone. Other times I shut phone off and connect to charger and it will charge while off. Or try pushing power button while holding down both volume buttons for 2 minutes. Then restart. You can do this even when battery is dead. Phone will vibrate and go to HTC screen then off repeatedly. I have tried HTC support which has been no help. Beware that they will try to blame you for the problem! I've been blamed for using wrong charger (the HTC charger died within 6 weeks!), damaging the phone, installing a corrupted app, "this never happens to the same person multiple times" (excuse me! Read the forums-I'm not alone!), etc! We bought 3 of the same model on the same day - only mine has problems. I contend it's because they keep sending me "certified refurbished" phones! Are they really fixing the problems when they won't acknowledge that the problem is theirs??!! Don't pay HTC anything! Go to your provider - verizon has replaced each phone without any charges.

I have had the same issue. I am on my second phone and am now waiting to receive my THIRD. I tried talking to HTC about the problem but they insisted that I am the first person to encounter this problem. I find this hard to believe after reading several forums like this one. I clean out the USB, disable car/docking mode, restart the phone, and it doesn't work. Both phones I had the factory reset did not work. WHY can't HTC find a solution or admit that there is a problem with the HTC 1 M8? Instead of telling me I'm the first person in the world to have this problem? If Jlg3256 is on his 5th phone and I'm on my 3rd in 14 months, there is obviously a big problem here.

Why does it seem that forced restarting the phone has been neglected here? Hold power and volume up buttons until the phone vibrates, for a complete restart. Has the added bonus of clearing all app cache.
