Help HTC One M8 temperature range

I ride a scooter to and from work. It was raining the other night and I therefore wrapped my phone in a linen napkin (I'm server) and placed my phone in the scooter's luggage compartment under the seat just above the engine. It didn't occur to me until today, three days later, that this'd could potentially harm the phone. I also keep some wrenches in their, and they were very warm/hot to touch. Clearly, they conduct heat much better than anything else in there. My question is this. My phone was in there for just a couple miles. This was three days ago and since then I've noticed no malfunction to make me believe the phone was damaged. The battery is also functioning fine. Is it likely, though, that something could've happened that hasn't surfaced yet? Sounds like a silly question but I usually take good care of my electronics and really like this phone, which I've only had two weeks.

I use an app called battery notifier pro so I know the internal battery temperature of my phone. We do not have a dedicated temperature sensor in the phone.

Your phone will be just fine. Leaving your phone in an extremely hot environment of which exceeds the temperature for the phone will be problematic. I'm not sure what temperature the users manual says not to exceed but that is the temperature that will damage your phone. Why? Because components start to melt and malfunction at those temperatures.

This is simply not true. The operating temperature of the battery/phone is a basic and standard diagnostic statistic read and reported at the hardware level by the operating system. The phone has a temperature sensor.
Whatever application you are using is simply skimming the base info from the log that already exists in the operating system. This is entirely independent of whatever application you may have installed.

The supplemental manual with "important information" (NOT the manual, User Guide, or Getting Started Guide) states that the operating temperature range for the phone and battery is: 32

The M8 lacks an ambient air temp sensor, RH (Relative humidity), and a dedicated internal temp sensor that is separate from the battery temp sensor.

AAT sensors are inaccurate most of the time and is more of a gimmick than anything. THey are affected by too many variables, including sitting in your pocket, in your hand, sunlight...apps making the phone hot...etc.

Having just a batt temp sensor is a cost cutting move. The battery is the most critical- temperature sensitive component on the phone and having just a sensor there makes sense. If the batt gets too hot, we know the phone is too hot, and protocols are in place to reduce the temp, from disabling charging to reducing processor speed, to a shut down of the phone to protect internal components.

The M8 feels hotter than most phones simply because it has a solid metal case that conducts heat all too well.

I would not worry about placing in there for a short scooter ride. You will know if it's getting too hot, it will shut itself down. Just take a precaution and make sure no apps are running that my drive up the temp of the phone and you should be fine!
