Help HTC ONE M8 update software issue?..

I recently became the proud owner of a HTC ONE M8 phone on contract with EE. All was great until I downloaded an update for my phone which resulted in certain latouts changing, for exampe my unlock screen changed. Ill draw mu unlock pattern which became smaller and went from the colour green to white. certain apps like ''sheets'' ''doc's'' exc are now amongst my apps. Im wondering is there a way to uninstall the update and revert back to the way it was at the time I got it. for example could I do a reset without losing such things as contacts, picures exc....

A factory reset will do the exact opposite of what you want: it will erase your contacts and apps, but won't change the system software at all.

Without rooting there is probably not a way of doing this. But I'll move this to our M8 forum to see whether people who own the device have more suggestions.

Contacts stored on Google will only be gone temporarily.

For a non-root backup, Helium is a good choice.

The only downgrade path to KitKat is by rooting.

If you go with Sunshine s-off, you can unlock your phone without losing anything and can do a better app and data backup.

A factory data reset is best for non-root phones after any major update.

Equivalent wiping instructions are provided for rooters with the chosen roms or update installations.
