Root HTC One Mini S-On, no ROM will install, wat do?

I have an HTC One Mini which is unlocked and the sd card formatted so there is no ROM on it. I have TWRP but I cannot install a ROM from it. I was trying yesterday with CWM and I kept getting various status0 and status7 errors trying to flash CM11, then I tried to install a stock rom and it got stuck halfway through installing update and I had to press the power button which completely crashed CWM.

I tried the idea in this thread (http://androidforums.com/threads/s-on-and-want-to-flash-roms-read-this.587430/). Which is the command below, so that recovery can access /boot to install the kernal from the custom ROM. However when I did this it was successful in cmd, but the phone would only go to fastboot when I tried to access recovery.

Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img

So what is the easiest way for me to get a working OS on my phone?

I'm guessing I need to somehow S-Off it, or install a stock ROM with S-On?

Thanks you in advance for any help.

Our thread is out of date for the recovery advice.

No idea what you did, formatting an SD card does not erase the OS.

Nothing personal - but from your description, you're going at this like throwing spaghetti at a wall - throw until something sticks.

Do that with s-off (that you may not need at all) and you can quickly convert your phone into a paperweight.

I'm on travel until later today.

Please wait until I or one of our other HTC rooters can get back to help.

If you have an AT&T/Cricket phone, get into FASTBOOT USB mode and in a command window say -

fastboot oem lock

Get a 50% charge, download this and follow the manual install instructions -

Thanks for your quick reply. You're absolutely right about throwing spaghetti at a wall, I installed CM on an HTC desire a couple years ago so I thought I could do this no bother. I was wrong and all of last night I was just trying things with blind hope they might work. Today I've calmed down and I just want to get to the bottom of this.

With the HTC One Mini there is /sdcard/ and /External_sd/. I don't have an external SD so I believe personal files and the OS are all stored on the internal SD that comes with the phone. In any case after formatting the SD I could only get to fastboot.

My phone is O2 european.

Understand.

We can still get it sorted out pretty easily I expect.

I'll post back with details for yours later.

Meanwhile, see if you can get the bootloader screen stuff thanks.

Thank you. Here's the bootloader screen, sorry about the bad quality, I've written out all the technical stuff here. Don't know if it's worth mentioning but I was running Kitkat 4.4.2 before this.

Also whenever I power off from TWRP it says "Your device does not appear to be rooted. Install SuperSU now? This will root your device." I install it and I get the same message next time I power off.

OK, it sounds like you have TWRP working. Don't worry about the failure to install superuser by TWRP - it's not what you really want here.

Make sure you use the latest TWRP -

https://dl.twrp.me/m4ul/twrp-2.8.7.0-m4.img.html

If you are using TWRP 2.7.0 or lower it's not going to work with your hboot version.

Download version 3 from here -

http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...-official-stock-sense-6-rom-firmware-t2817921

From TWRP, MOUNT - check to mount the internal storage (internal sd card).

At that point, your pc ought to see your phone and let you copy the rom zip file over.

When complete, uncheck the storage you mounted - nothing else, leave everything else as it was.

TWRP, WIPE, ADVANCED - choose to wipe boot, system and data ONLY.

TWRP, INSTALL - select the rom zip your copied over, install it.

It's already a rooted rom - let me know what happens.

I have no mount option for the sdcard but I've pushed the file over with adb. In TWRP, WIPE, ADVANCED I only have: Dalvik cache, cache, Data, Internal Storage, System, USB OTG. Should I just wipe data and system? I thought dalvik cache was always a must before installing a new ROM?

Dear EarlyMon, I've quite similar problem with my HTC one mini though it has never been rooted or fiddled with, Bootloader screen reads following;

I get a red box with FASTLOADER (if unconnected) FASTLOADER AC if connected to a charger and FASTLOADER USB if connected to a PC.

I've tried unlocking the BL using Unlock_code.bin through Fastboot and it completed successfully but BL still gives the same reading. Nothing seems to work, please in desperate need of some help. Thanks in advance.
