Help HTC One SV in Bootloop, have I made it worse?

Hi All,

First post here so please go easy on me ;)

The missus got an upgrade a few weeks ago and as a result her HTC One SV was left laying around. I have always found the one sv a great little phone and thought why not factory reset it and give it to my seven year old daughter to save her from taking my phone and killing the battery with minecraft and moshi monsters at every given opportunity. The phone had started getting a little bit buggy and got stuck in boot loop a few times in the months leading up to the missus getting her new handset and I had to factory reset it twice to get it working. Since the factory reset the camera stopped working, but I thought that wasn't so much an issue as it was only really going to be used for a few games and maybe whatapp. So I factory reset the phone again, put a few apps on it and my daughter was away, very happy with having her own phone. A couple of weeks into her using the phone it got stuck in boot loop again. I tried both recovery and factory reset and no matter what I do it will not get past the HTC logo screen.

Being somebody that likes to fix things I started looking through some threads on here about re-flashing the phone to see if I could get it working again. Anyway after nearly 2 weeks of reading various threads and downloading multiple files I am still no further it getting the phone working. BTW the phone is a UK ver on Virgin Mobile UK.

Firstly I am able to access the phone's info using hboot and getvar all, I get the following;

INFOversion: 0.5
INFOversion-bootloader: 2.00.0000
INFOversion-baseband: 1.18.40a.00.05

I have tried finding a RUU to install back to stock but all files I have tried failed. The furthest I got was with the ROM RUU_K2_UL_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.17.401.5_R_Radio_0.12.40.00.14_2_10.49.40.11L_release_301902_signed.exe
which I understand would have put the phone to ICS rather than JB. I got as far a it writing the image I then got an error saying the IMG had failed. I have also tried flashing various recovery.img, boot.img etc using HBOOT, all of which also failed. After doing some further reading I understood that I was trying to flash different ROM's to a locked handset so went through the process of unlocking the phone using the HTCDEV website as shown in the "All things root". Again I tried a couple of RUU files which again failed at various stages.

I am now at a bit of a loss of what to try next. I can't seem to find a RUU file that matched my radio and SW version and I'm getting lost in 20 page threads only to not find the answers.

Please can anyone tell me where I should be concentrating given the SW version I have. Also given that the camera failed after the factory reset is it possible the phone is now beyond repair i.e hardware fault. I am quite happy to read through threads and instructions but I just seem to be going in circles at the moment.

Thanks in advance
Joe

you cant do an earlier one s-on if you had the latest software version those wont work.if you have twrp working or cwm id see if theres a backup file someone uploaded.prolly be the easiest option

Thanks frosthax1, I have just installed twrp to recovery and made a backup of the original rom. I then flashed another k2_ul 4.2.2 rom I had downloaded which seemed to write ok. The trouble I am having is no matter what I do the phone will never make it past the HTC logo. I can boot into bootloader fine and when I select recovery TWRP loads first time but even rebooting from TWRP just brings me back to the HTC logo screen.

Any ideas what I can try next?
