Help HTC One White dot when touching screen

looncoon

Lurker
Hello!

I have a cursor-like white dot following my finger every time I tap or drag my fingers across the screen. This happened overnight, it seems, without me activating it.

Important detail: the developer options solution did not work :\

Any ideas? Thank y'all :)

OK that's very weird - and you've toggled show touches?

If it's not that, try clearing cache from recovery.

Volume down while powering on until the bootloader appears - navigate to RECOVERY, clear/wipe/erase cache, reboot system. Won't lose your data.

It is indeed very peculiar. Just tried wiping the cache and rebooting... Nope. Still here. I have toggled show touches on and then off again, still nothing

Show Touches is in the Developer Options.

Glove mode is something that only some phones will have. I don't know which HTC One model the OP has, but mine (M7) doesn't have that.

Hi looncoon, welcome to Android Forums.

On the M9, 'Glove mode' can be found in Settings - Display & gestures, and as neming said, it is also available in Quick Settings.

Still no idea what's causing this problem for the OP though.

With it enabled I get a white spot the same size as the yellow one with the navigation arrow on my Bus Scout widget, wherever I tap the screen and it follows a swipe movement which sounds just like what the OP is getting, so it may yet be that setting as he hasn't responded yet. :(

I think it depends which HTC One model (s)he has. If it's an M9 it sounds a very good candidate for the explanation. I don't think the M8 has it (Googled for it explicitly for the M8 and the results were all for the M9), know for sure the M7 doesn't.

OP hasn't been back in ages now. Hope that's not coz of our OT chitchat... .
... If so, can we continue lol?

It's a Sense 7 feature, I don't have it on the M8.
