Help Htc Sensation heating up

I broke my DHD so Orange sent me a Sensation as a replacment.

As i was setting up my e-mail, apps etc at the same time as charging it the phone got very hot indeed, and then shut down.

I was not able to get it to switch back on for an hour, rang Orange who said they will replace it again.

2 x Sensation in 2 days is not a good start, I had no issued with the DHD until I dropped it

to anyone having these random shut down issues let the battery drain completely till it wont turn on at all. Then leave it for 10mins, plug it in to charge while its turned off for minimum 10 hours...
slate me if you disagree but i received some surprising results from doing this

it still carried on to nearly 4hours before it dropped to 99% charge and theres hell of a difference in heat output!
Thats with use from texts through handcent and forum browsing with dolphin browser and a 15min phone call which then brought to my attention how well the battery was doing, hence the screenshot i took.

cant see it being a co-winkydink but if it has the same effect on other phones then bonus :)

Mine heats up very badly (Bell) but it's in a Case-Mate Barely There case (awesome) and I'm wondering if the case is not allowing air to escape. I have gone back and forth with Bell and HTC but neither is willing (or able) to assist.

Perhaps related to this issue is the fact that the phone regularly just shuts down on its own if left idle for a few hours. If I use the phone for say 8 hours, the batter of course does drain but it does not shut down, it's only when idle. Again, have been through troubleshooting with Bell, HTC (via email and phone) and their standard and canned reply is to reset the phone to factory settings. Done that 2x. No change.

While I agree that these phones do get quite hot under heavy use (especially the stock battery), it shouldnt get so hot that it switches itself off.

If its shutting down because its over heating you probably have a faulty handset, so I would get it either replaced or repaired under warranty.

Cheers

I have this issue with every Sensation I've tried. Have spoken to Bell (my provider), HTC support (via email and phone) and their standard, canned reply is to reformat the phone to factory settings, which I've done twice. Interesting thing is that the phone only does this when idle (standby), and not when in use. When I turn the phone back on, the battery is still at around 90% so it's not that the phone is dead. I am now wondering if one of the apps on the phone is causing this problem. Will try to do more troubleshooting on my own but it would be very nice if either Bell or HTC would step up to the plate and offer more than the canned assistance.

BTW this only started happening since HTC/Bell released the 2.3.4 OTA upgrade to Android OS.

Oh and I should mention that when going back and forth with HTC email support, I was given instructions to look in the phone's ROM to check the actual battery *temperature*, and it was well within the acceptable range, even though it felt hot to the touch. When I told HTC that others are reporting the same issue, I was told, and I quote, "You can't believe what you read on the internet, people will write anything".

to solve this put the phone in the deepfreezer. you may want to remove the battery first and check on the phone every 2 minutes to make sure its not briked or rather frozen. you can't trust moisture with phones these days.

You're kidding, right?

come to think of it what if you installed liquid cooling...why are your phones overheating ? have you overclocked it ?

now...time to get serious...if you only use your phone for Photos, videos, browsing, calling, smsing then I would recommend that you underclock it to say 800-600 MHz per core, you shouldn't experience any lag, (but don't go lower than 600 Mhz or the phone could become sluggish, sense uses a lot of power to function). The phone will be much much cooler and your battery could last you twice as long...no joking.
