Help HTC sensation, update & SC card

Have had this 4 days. Wanted to check for updates. Went to Home, then settings and About phone.
Tapped Software updates and there is a scheduled check.
have the option of download from any available data connection or download via WiFI or cable only.
Chose the first option and pressed OK.
Message: SD Card not ready - you need an SD card

So - where do I put this card and why do I need it!!
Any ideas please. Am getting fed up with this phone.

Remove the battery cover and your SD card slot is below the battery on the right next to the SIM card slot. It's pretty common knowledge that you need an SD card to install an update.

I am amazed that your Sensation did not come with SD card! Normally come with at least 8GB, which has things like the user manual on it.
