Help HTC Sensation - Wifi Problem

Hello

the problem is in your router

look at the wifi settings in your router and you must put the wifi channel above the 10

and if you look the nummer is lower then 10

greez tom

I know some of you won't believe this but I did this to my router...set the channel from auto to 11 and it fixed my sensation wifi problem. I had the never ending search problem trying to connect to wifi and if it ever did get connected the phone would randomly reboot. I just made the change on my router and wifi is now working better than it has in months...ever since the upgrade. I wonder if this is a bug planted by phone carriers to stop wifi so that we spend more money on data connections...just a thought.

Hi All,
When you Google "HTC Sensation Wireless Problems" - this is the link that comes up first... So, here's the solution that worked for me...
When we tried to connect a new UK (Virgin Media) Sensation to our wireless network, it wouldn't connect and showed the same symptoms that many of you have reported.
Our Linksys WRT350N Wireless-N router works fine with all the other devices in the house: iPads, iMacs, Windows Laptops, Sony and Samsung Android Phones, etc... It has the wireless MAC filter enabled. Is using the default wide N channel. It is running WPA-PSK2 encryption.
I tried changing channel numbers and settings on the router, used a static IP on the Sensation, but none of it worked.
Then I had a bit of luck:
The Linksys has a DHCP Reservation option accessible from the basic setup page. I reserved an IP address for the Sensation using its wireless MAC address. Tried to connect again and everything worked!
I'm using the standard settings on the Sensation (DHCP, no static IP address, no DLNA auto-IP) and have re-enabled the standard N channels, wireless MAC filter and WPA-PSK2 encryption on the router. All is well.
Hope this helps some of you find a similar solution.

Here is the solution to the connecting...obtaining.... disconnected style WIFI loops, you need to revert back to the android version 2.3.4 and software number 1.45.401.2 to do this just run the RUU from the HBoot menu. (using your pc and a usb cable) I used this one specifically. RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208857_signed if you google that long name then goto the shipped roms webpage. This is if you are rooted, otherwise I believe you can do the normal factory reset. So far the incremental upgrades from there stop the wifi from working with certain types of wifi network. Can anyone recommend a rooted Rom that is entirely based on this version, so I can go back to having all the lovely stuff and wifi?

Hi,

I also have an HTC Sensation and just started experiencing the problem of 'Connecting..' then Disconnected. Then it goes back to Connecting.. and shows me the list of WiFi networks in the area, then back to Disconnected.

I tried:
- rebooting the router
- resetting the phone
- setting the Sleep to Never

The problem only appears to have started happening since my phone upgraded to Android 2.3.4 today.

Could this have been the cause of the issue? If so, is it possible to downgrade back to 2.3.3?

I've searched quite a bit for solutions to this issue also - different suggestions (like the things I tried) but no definitive answers :(

My phone software is:
Android 2.3.4

Software number: 1.45.401.2

Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't know if this can help or not, but for the record, I have never encountered any network problem before with my Sensation. However, this may be because I am on a custom ROM (Android Revolution HD) and my phone currently using a different radio (not the stock radio) as well as different hboot. If you guys really cannot find a solution, I suggest you just root your phone and flash a new radio. However, this is a process that can brick your phone, void your warranty so please only use it as the last resort.

I have a HTC sensation and on day 2 it wouldn't connect to the wifi anymore. It keeps saying that it is scanning and eventually "gives up" with the message "Cannot connect to network." The 3G connection however works fine.
Today I found out that for some strange reason the phone will connect perfectly once I put the earphones in.
Earphones on and the connection will remain for a few hours only to disconnect and reboot the itself.Connect the earphones and...... you guessed it WiFi connection.
I'm stunned!

I was able to solve this problem just now by setting my router to disable auto channel scan then restarting my phone. I think the phone got confused when the router changed channel. I let you know if this really solved the problem or for the meantime only.

My above post didn't solve my problem.

Ever since my HTC arrived here at home, the wifi connection become at chaos. Every time I connect my HTC to wifi, all the wireless devices here at home (iphones, ipad and laptops) will lose connection to the Internet although they are still connected to the home wifi. Restarting the router will solve the problem temporarily but after an hour or two, the Internet connection will be lost again. There's no choice but to turn off my HTC's wifi and rely on 3G. This so sad...

The same here, I solved using static IP on the phone

Mines is a lot simplier. It connects and works with my protected home Wifi router (Virgin Media superhub) and has at most 3 items connecting to it.. x2 mobiles and a laptop. All work fine, however my HTC XE if anactive for an hour or so, wifi no longer works... No tampering about in settings is needed, I simply have to turn off the wifi, and turn back on again in the main window tab along the top of the home screen menu. It's just really annoying since I can no longer set my alarm to the tun-in radio app, as it requires an internet connection

The sensation 4g is my first android phone. For the first few months my wifi worked perfectly fine. The odd time a game lost connectivity for a couple seconds but it came back which was livable. Upgraded to 4.0.3 and I've noticed a lot more of the lost wifi connections.
But i'm wondering if anyone else with these same style problems have noticed or looked at any disconnects of the same type on all the wireless technologies on their phones. The WiFi, 3G and Blue Tooth devices like I have as well?

Has anyone talked to htc on this? I'm having same problem.
having the same problem with the Htc after a year with the phone being fine just started to have problems with WiFi only keeps losing it and having to turn off the WiFi and on again on phone

Hi,
This is not a problem in the router. Others can connect to the some router just my HTC Sensation no. Connects and disconnects or turns on and off the wifi after i week perfectly work.
How to send a report about this issue to the HTC?
Nandor

I have had my sensation for about 6 month and I just came across this problem.
Here's how I fixed mine.

Take the back cover off, you'll see a few brass pins, 6 I think and one silver one on the left hand side down the middle. Get a small pin and just lift the silver pin to bend it up slightly this will connect better to the all steel plate on the back cover While your at it, just give all the brass springs a little tweak to bend them up slightly too clean the brass plates and steel one on the back cover to make sure no dust may stop connection.

Once the back cover is replaced your signal sure be off.
This was the problem I had, poor connections.
Hope this helps a few of you.
(i won't take responsibility for damage you may do as I'm only stating what i did to fix my WiFi problem, unsure?use qualified phone repair store)

Same problem for me with my Belkin router at work.
I tried all the suggestions on here with no joy.
Yesterday I went into the routers wireless settings and didnt change anything but for some reason when I came out the phone connected straight away.
Again today the phone wouldnt automatically pick up the router until I did the same thing.
So....why do I need to go into the routers wireless settings every time I need to get a connection?
Some technical person must see this as a clue.

Latest patch I found to work with my WiFi at home is:
-connect the phone to the WiFi network with DHCP enabled; the phone enters an endless loop of connecting/disconnecting
-remove the WiFi network from the list
-connect again the phone but using static IP

Sometimes I have to repeat the sequence

when you say 'reset it' do you mean factory reset? (completely wiping phone)

I'm not having quite the same problem as everyone else. My sensation can pick up and connect to my router no problem, but when I try to go to android market or onto internet, it can't connect and I get a "network failure" message. I contacted HTC, they suggested it was my router that was not allowing any more connections to it. I checked my router and it doesn't have a limit on connections. HTC told me to try a different router somewhere else. I won't be able to test that theory till tomorrow, but thought that was a rubbish suggestion.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Sensation is on T Mobile. I have a Desire on O2 which has no such problem.
i have same issue
any fixes?
