Help HTC sensation XE call delay (mute when answering call)

bachje

Lurker
Hi! I own my HTC Sensation about two weeks. I noticed a strange problem...
The thing is when someone calls me I pick up I hear the caller just fine but the caller is unable to hear me for about 5 seconds (like the call is muted) then after these 5 seconds everything works just fine. That happens about 8 of 10 times.

Anyone had same problem? Thanks.

Hi!
Where are you from and what is your carrier?
I am from Croatia, I am on T-Mobile.
I am glad that you replied.
This is frustrating and big problem for me. One thing I can tell you - It is not hardware problem!
Of course I contacted HTC, send over 15 emails, they suggested to take phone to the service to HTC:mad:. When ever is some problem with the phone they always say take the phone to the service

I was insane and I have been testing my Sensation XE for about a week and I came to the following result:
This "mute on answer" was happening to me only from certain numbers:
For example:
1. My wife calls me and every second call I am unable to hear her for 5 seconds!
2. My friend calls me and everything is working normal - I can hear him every single time.
So there is a lot of numbers which I hear every single time right away and there is also a lot of numbers which I hear every second time.
I tried 4 different SIM cards from T-Mobile and the problem was still there with every SIM.

Nex thing I did:
I bought a pre paid SIM from another carrier (VIP) and there was no problem at all. Everything is working norrmal.
So I called my Carrier service department, spent about 3 hours over the phone that day, they called me day after - spent another 2 hours over the phone, next day another 2 hours and they managed to solve the problem partially! The "call delay" is now about 25% of all my calls.
T-Mobile service said that they will resolve my problem (I hope) but they have to do some more things (I don't know what). So now I am still waiting for them to call me and to say that they have fixed the problem.

As a conclusion: The problem is somewhere in the phone Radio ROM, Sense UI and kernel when registering on some networks it causes that problem.
How about you? Have you called you Carrier service or HTC?

Hi strange story !

Which Sw Version do you have on your phone!

Do you know the Technical Note from HTC "Auto mute after G2W and W2G handover"?

Maybe is the same issue ?

HI!
Very Strange story.
I am running Stock ROM, 2.3.4 GB.

So what is "Auto mute after G2W and W2G handover"?
I haven't heard about that.

Thanks.

this tread:

Mute while answering call in HTC Sensation XE - Portable Devices

described the same problem ! Solution HTC find a HW defect on the Phone !

Here some explaining out of the TN from HTC:

Problem Scenario and Failure Frequency
[FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman][FONT=Times New Roman,Times New Roman]In a scenario where there is a handover from GSM to WCDMA and then back to GSM, there will be an audio mute in terms of what the UE can hear after coming back to GSM.
Failure frequency: Every time
Scenario frequency: Uncommon
Note: In normal W2G handover (no G2W in advance) case, this issue would not happen
Affected devices and baseband versions
This issue only happens on QCT 8260 chipset, includes Sensation, EVO3D, etc.
No such issue in below baseband codebase
109007 (For 8260 TA)
113504
This issue would happen in below baseband codebase
109020
109035
This issue is fixed in below baseband version in 109020 and 109035 codebase
10.59.9020.00
10.59.9035.00
Solution:
QCT has a fix CR#290908 to solve this issue
Change were made to put in another call at the end of the code snippet to re-enable
gl1_vocoder control.

So i would assume that you have really a HW Problem or SW Problem on the Phone

Also i read in a Austria Forum, that the HTC Sensation doesn't support WB-AMR by Default ! First the SW has to be updated ! Maybe this update doesn't worked well!
