Help HTC Sensation XE Wifi issue

My partner and I both rently had Samsung Galaxy S's, which we traded in a few days ago. She got a Sony Erricson arc s, and I got a HTC sensation XE phone.

The problem I now have is that when I'm in the house, and running my mobile through WiFi like many of you will, it tends to not open any browser, or app requiring internet whilst connected to WiFi if I leave it for say...? an hour or 2 inactivity..
It works again if I go onto the quick settings on my mob, and turn WiFi off, then back on again, but then this is no good if I want to use an internet required app to set an alarm or what not. I believe my partners has done it once or twice, but not as much as mine

I have a Virgin Media super hub, which I have restarted. I have also restarted the HTC mobile to see if this helps, and removed 'task killer', which I downloaded from app market

Any ideas, on what could be causing this little glitch? I've had a look, and it doesn't seem a common problem with any HTC user, so I'm guessing it may not be the phone. Not sure on the OS.. Think it might be gingerbread?

I had a similiar sympton on my HTC Sensation XE. Turns out HTC have set a network power saving feature which resulted in the symptom you describe.

Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Menu -> Advanced -> WiFi Sleep Policy -> Ensure it's on Never.

(Mine was on After 15 min

I have this issue too - and my WiFi sleep policy is set to never. It seem sthat I'll be fine, until my missus (HTC Desire S - Gingerbread) connects, at which point my connection drops. I need to disable the wifi on my phoen an re-enable it to get connected. Doesn't happen every time, but often enough for me to recognise what the issue is

my internet is BT Infinity using the home hub - so it obviously isn't restricted to the make of router - and yes, I've set static IP addresses for each device. Interestingly, increasing the DNS lease time on the router seems to have extended the period between the cut offs, so don't know if its some way in which HTCs renew their IP lease with the router?
