Root htc sense 3.0

Well its not as easy as downloading a rom and following the instructions in the rom thread as MassacrMan states.

He leaves out a good bit of the steps.

It first involves rooting your phone. Download the kit from this thread

Once its rooted it has a different recovery mode installed. You then want to find a Sense 3.0 rom in this part of the inspire 4g forums

I use Virtous Unity for a sense 3.0 rom.

So folks that respond that its easy to flash a rom. Its not if you don't know anything about it. I came from the Samsung Captivate and that was alot easier then the inspire to do things with. Even though 2 hrs after I had my phone it was rooted and rom'd it still wasn't as easy as MassacrMan makes it out.

When I first got my Captivate I read those forums for several days before I went and flashed. I made sure I knew how to get out of trouble. I made sure I could flash back to stock if anything broke. I read about all the issues that people had with the phone.

You are going to want to download the HTC Drivers for the phone if you have not already. http://dl4.htc.com/setup_3.0.5557.exe Run that and the first part of the install is the drivers. Once that is installed you will then be asked to install sync. Cancel here. Now you can plug your phone into the comp and mount it and copy stuff to and from it.

If you need any more help then feel free to pm me. This should get you started on what you need to get started.

If you have questions search first with google. If nothing it returned then search on XDA if nothing is returned make a post but state you have searched and was not able to find anything similar. There probably is something similar on there but its so vast its hard to find.
 
He's giving you some good info, for sure, but rooting is the hardest part I would say, and that's still not really all that hard IMO.

After you root and have ROM Manager; downloading the ROM, sticking it on your SD card and loading the ROM is easy as cake. I can change ROMs right now just by opening ROM Manager and selecting whichever one I choose.

Hardest part is finding the ROM that you like the best and actually works.

You need to be careful using Rom Manager to install roms on your phone. If you have Rom Manager, then you probably have a version of Clockwork Mod Recovery installed. You're better off, particularly if the rom you want to install is Cyanogen based and requires a separate Google Apps installation, to use Recovery itself to do the installation because Rom Manager sometimes screws up the order of installation and installs the Google Apps first, followed by the installation of the rom - which can cause big problems.

You know, there is an app on the market which gives any android phone that rather sexy silver ring, for an unlocker, and I believe that I saw a theme for one of the custom launchers which claimed to be Sense UI looking, so it might be possible to cobble together a Sense 3.0 looking setup on your phone. But ultimately, as an earlier poster pointed out, the only way to really *get* Sense 3.0 is to download & install one of the custom roms from over on XDA Developers Forum.

As a side note - You need to be careful over on that forum, when it comes to posting questions. They have a separate Q & A section that is exclusive to each major rom, and *that's* the place they want your questions posted to - not in the thread that you download the rom from.
