HTC Sense.com

Well, it's software running on Android 2.2 so it should do, let's just hope HTC decide to share the love and not keep it on the Desire HD & Z

They may not offer it because of screen size differences making the text smaller on Desires, but since the resolution is the same and it's not a huge difference in size, I don't see why not. Perhaps in the next HTC update.
:)

Yeah, I imagine it would have to come through an OTA update since it seems to incorporated into HTC Sense / the firmware.

But the Z's screen is the same size as the Desire's so if it will run on that screen, there's no reason it won't run on the Desire.

I just hope that the new Sense features won't slow the Desire down like iOS4 did to my iPod Touch.

Desire Z = QVGA screen, 800MHz Qualcomm chip

Isn't that slightly lower spec than the Desire?

Desire = WVGA, 1Ghz snapdragon (is the qualcomm the make or the processor name?)

Oh I missed the Z in the above, so yes it should work.

It would add a little overhead, but I can't see it slowing it down much and certainly not enough to worry about, especially with the 2x faster speed thanks to Froyo.

Yes, the Desire has a faster chip running at 1000MHz (1GHz), yet both are Snapdragon chipsets.

Qualcomm is the designer and manufacturer of the chipset. Snapdragon is the name of the chipset used in the Qualcomm configuration, and Scorpion is the name of the processor.

Desire Z is only 800 Mgz but dont forget it is the newer gen more optimized Snapdragon. It would probably perform the same as current snapdragons and run more power efficient thanks to it being 45nm. In my mind this is an improvement over current snapdragons.

but what about the new snapdragon shipping in the Desire HD? how does that one fare against the snapdragon in the Desire Z?

as great as the Z looks, the HD still nips it for me with the bigger screen and higher resolution camera.. i like to take pictures with my phone.. the slide out keyboard looks brilliant though... i want the new desire's lol..

who wants to buy my desire? :p

on a serious note, how long until we get htcsense.com incorporated into rooted phones if at all?

well about the Desire HD's processor. It is pretty much the same generation as the Desire Z, but clocked at 1 Ghz rather than 800 mgz. So it has the new Adreno 205 gpu. Expect this to be a beast :)

Qualcomm Products and Services - The Snapdragon? Platform

Under Product Details and Second Generation there's the 7x30 chipset (Desire Z) and the better 8x55 chipset (Desire HD). You can compare the stats.

Just read some more about the new Sense; it includes upgraded camera software to enable editing and fun effects

I'll be surprised (and disappointed) if the new Sense doesn't arrive on the Desire

I would dearly love to have the fast boot, cached maps, and landscape home screen that this new Sense provides. Please HTC, pretty please...

No mention of the Wavesecure style features?

At the heart is HTCSense.com, a series of dashboard-connected services for backup, security, and control of your HTC handset. A new locate feature triggers the handset to ring loudly (even when set to silent) while flagging its location on an online map. If the phone was lost or stolen, owners can remote lock and/or wipe the phone. Backups will automatically archive your contacts, text messages, call history, customizations and data.

lets play a fun game and see how expensive the Desire HD and Z will retail for sim free. :p

i'm gonna say

Some lovely new touches there. Here's hoping we get them too!!

Also is it just me who's ocd starts flaring up, cause the clocks on the two phones are not at the same time, not even the same hour. Grrr

do you guys think the reason they removed backup feature in the latest update is because of the upcoming htcsense.com back up service?

That is one BEAUTY of a phone.

Now I'm torn as to what to upgrade to when my contract is up in 2012. The hinted at HTC Olympian, or the Desire HD.

And the girl doing the demo sounds HOT :) LOL
