Help HTC Sense Dashboard problem

Ticket response after ticket respone (make new account/etc..) & no further forward - 2 1/2 months now.. rediculous!
I am now passed to 'next line' who are dealing with Sense issues... but no contact made by them yet.

I have x2 DHD & one is happy 5 tabs, the 'reset' device is still duff
......... Now HTC Sense is complete limited (except for a few lucky users that signed up early from what I gather), and we just have to sit patiently and wait for news.
This sounds highly plausible..... given the other handset is all singing & dancing... dammit!

i cant seem to find the HTC SENSE app or widget on my phone, can anyone tel me where it could be as iv hunted for ages but no luck, i can find where you sync it to htc but thats it,
Sense isn't really an app.. its little bits n bobs, all over the place
Like in Locations you have ur Footprints & also can access Friends Footprints
In People you have ur online directory link to Friends
Hub is in All Apps & Messages are SMS, obviously
The Sense website is sposed to be like a 'cloud based' management suite where you can access & manipulate them all without the pokey stick or proddy finger

Thank goodness I found this forum and PopTarantulas answers. I also have two DeisreHDs, well I have one and the wife has one:D, Mine works perfectly on HTCSense and hers (naturally) only has the dashboard appear with no other options. Took ages for mine to work properly as I deleted my account sometime ago and had to recreate it, luckily I still got all the options. Have had endless trouble sorting an account for her with the account not recognising a password when setup and then not recognising the security question to reset it and finally having to use an alternative email as the original would never reset or allow deletion.
Well I suppose things can only get better - maybe:confused:

Wow, Zantos.. sounds like you are in complete reverse of my situation..
Nice to hear you have your 'Reset' Device working properly.. my duff D.HD wasn't so lucky

Providing you can get your troublesome phone to log itself to NONsense (in Accounts/Sync not the website), it should be able to send friend requests to the one with FULL access
You can also try using Latitude (this also works in combination with Google Chat/Google Latitude/Gmail on your PC)
I now have 2 phones that can see & talk to each other.. however, they don't want to share Footprints yet

Until this lousy Web Interface is fixed (if ever) I'm using a combination of MyLookout (Free)/Latitude/Tasker for emergency relocating
Security comes at a price, but NONsense should be doing this for free, like on my other D.HD

I recently purchased a HTC Desire Z and registered myself on the HTC Sense website and used the same credentials on my phone. I am only getting the Dashboard and nothing else. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

I wouldn't put any faith in HTCSense.com to be honest. I've had the phone since November and it's never worked properly for me.

I'd wait until HTC sort themselves out before trying any of its features again.

I only have the dashboard but it all works, shows my location, rings locks phone etc, but I haven't tried erase my phone obviously lol.

Hey guys and girls. New around these parts but I notice a lot of people are having the same problem as I was having getting the phone finder feature to work on the sense website.
After some nagging to HTC they finally sent me the solution.
This worked for me and hope it can help anyone else having the same problem.

Below I have attached the text from the email they sent me,

Thanks for contacting HTC.

I understand you are experiencing some issues with HTC Sense.

Please follow the step detailed below, to ensure a successfull setup.

If you already have an HTC Sense account, we will need to delete it, please use these steps :

1. On your computer, open your web browser and sign in to your HTCSense.com account.
2. On the upper-right corner, click Account.
3. Click Click here to delete your HTCSense account.
(Deleting your HTCSense.com account will also delete your data on HTCSense.com servers)

I Know it sounds crazy but work with

Correct steps for a succesfull set-up :

1. Make sure you have fixed your location in the 'My Location' app - Menu, All Apps, My Location.
2. Ensure you have Auto-Sync ticked in -Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync.
3. Also esure you have 'Enable always-on mobile data' ticked in - Menu, Settings, Wireless & Networks. Its at the bottom of the list.
4. Create Account from your PC - Very important, please do not close this window when it sends you a Verification e.mail
5. When Verification e.mail arrives, either click link in email OR copy/paste into new tab/window in your web-browser, its very important to
to keep the original setup page unchanged
6. When account verified, CLOSE this browser page & REFRESH original browser page
- which should now change to show the 'I have signed in on my phone' button
7. On the phone, go to Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync, and 'Add new' and choose HTC Sense.
(If you already have an HTC Sense set-up in the list, tap on it and 'Delete', then follow step 7 again.)
8. Follow the steps on the phone for setting up HTC Sense.
9. When finished, you can now you can go back to the Verification browser page to complete setup, not the original sign-up page and complete setup by clicking the 'I have... etc'. button

That was for my phone but should be similar for any android based HTC.

I really hope this helps people.

hey guys,, plz tell me about HTC DESIRE HD...
MY PHONE version was 2.2 froyo but after update my phone its become 2.3... its seems to me that my camera {video recording hd720p(1280*720)} video quality seems lower then before (after update my phone)
In 2.2 version their was NO zooming in video recording hd.but now in 2.3 their is, zooming in video hd but video quality become lower....
plz tell me what,s the deal?????

Hi firstly which country are you in because android 2.3 is not out every where yet. If uk based its only just released to network branded phones.
But I can tell you I have a deisre HD and even in 2.2 you can zoom while recording video.
There are some difference with 2.2 and 2.3 but non that should have an impact on camera quality.
All I can imagine is some of your settings may have changed.
The major thing with 2.3 has been the work on NFC but here are some of the other changes as well.

Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) supports the following features in addition to existing 2.2 features:
New user interface design with new themes (Black themes save power)
Extra Large Screen Size supported
SIP Communication Supported (SIP Video and Audio Calling, In an operator point of view, this is feature will decrease their voice calling revenue where as user can call each other for lower rates or even free if they have good data connection)
Supports for NFC (High Frequency High Speech Data Transfer in short range)
Support for WebM/VP8 video playback, and AAC audio encoding
New audio effects such as reverb, equalization, headphone virtualization, and bass boost
Improved Copy and Paste functionality
Redesigned Multi Touch Software Keyboard
Audio, graphical, and input enhancements for game developers
New sensors support (i.e gyroscope)
Download manager for long running HTTP downloads
Enhanced support for native code
Improved power management and application control
Support for multiple cameras

Hi there,

Had problems with HTCSense Dashboard too in the beginning.
Found that, while installing your phone, you are asked to enter region code and phone number fairly in the beginning of the installation/setup.

That's where it goes wrong. When you open your Dashboard on HTCSense.com, you'll see under your account settings, that the region code is mentioned twice in the phone number box.

Simply edit the phone number in that box so that it only contains one time the region code and you're off!

Regards,

Hi Everyone

My first post so hope this helps.

I to had the same problems as everyone else on here and was going mad with it all. I tried everything that people had suggested to try but no luck. So on the HTC website I decided to download the operation guide for my Sensation and have a read through. I noticed something that said do that had never been mentioned in ANY of the online or phone setup procedures. It tells you that once you have setup online and also on your phone with the same details, you must sync the account on your phone. The way it tells you to do this for my phone is in the following way -

1. Click on the settings button (looks like a top of a screw)
2. Click settings
3. Click Accounts & Sync
4. Click HTC Sense
5. Make sure all are ticked and click sync.

I done all the above and then looged back into HTC Sense on my PC. There was an option to refresh phone location (something like that). Once I done this, it found my phone within seconds!!! Now I can Lock and Erase stuff on my phone, basically all options are now available.

Now I not sure if this was just luck or not, but it did work. I spent hours trying to get the thing working and after doing this it did work.

I posted this in the hope it also works for other people, please let me know how you get on.

Fingers crossed.

Steve

Have just managed to get the HTC phone tracker working (after several hrs of frustration).

I have a HTC Desire HD located in Oz (on Three/ Vodaphone).

Having read all the above posts, this is what worked for me.

I deleted my HTC Sense account (via PC as per instructions in other posts).

I deleted the HTC sense account on the phone (Settings, Accounts & Sync).

Then went to the ALL APPs on the phone selected HTC HUB widget.

It offers the chance to sign in or create. I created an account on the phone.

(regarding the tel no. I entered the mobile number but without the leading zero as they add the international area code on top (and it doesn't seem work if you get this wrong).

Complete the rego and you will shortly get the "validation email ".

I just clicked the validation link in the email (on the PC this time) and logged in to the HTC Sense account (using the details that I used when i created it on the phone).

The screen changed and said click Refresh (in green writing top left of the screen... for some people it may find the phone immediately).
After a couple of refreshes it found my phone and all the other features worked.

I hope this helps some, as I bought my phone back in April and couldn't get it working and had given up until a friend with an iPhone showed me how easy it was to operate/install (so I thought that i would have another go).

Thanks to the other posters, I would not have got it working but for their suggestions.

It shouldn't be this hard though, as I have mentioned I saw my mate set up his iPhone in just a couple of minutes.

I have downloaded an app from Market, named Lookout.

While it may not offer all the functionality that HTC Sense promises it does at least work!

It backs up contacts, pictures etc, checks files for malware etc and has a phone locator too. Have been using this app for a year without any issues. Took me just 30 seconds to set up and had no set up issues whatsoever. It has worked on Android v1.6 too.

There are free or paid versions.

Mine wasn't working using a Gmail account. I erased it on the site and re-registered with my hotmail account. I then erased my gmail linked sense account on the phone and created the new one for the hotmail sense account. I kept the site open as I created the phone account and it verified via the phone. After the sync completed (the very first one) everything is working. My location is accurate to within feet of where I actually am and all the other functions seem to work fine. Looks like HTC may have finally squared this away. Important note:- NO RESETS WERE REQUIRED FOR THIS TO WORK!

Today I discovered I had the same problems. Didn't have to reset my HTC Desire HD or delete my HTCSense account. Just added HTCSense service to "accounts & synchronisation" list and set the updatemode to "push". Logged back in to htcsense.com and after 30 secs everything worked again.

I had problems trying to get sense dashboard to work as well and I was using a gmail account.
I tried my btinternet account and it worked first time, so if anyone is having issues, try using an email that isn't gmail.

HTC Evo 3D - Italy

Now mine is working. Block, Ring and Localization! I've just deleted and reregistered my account using HTC hub. It took less then 10 minutes and 4-5 refreshes of the page forcing the manual syncronization from the mobile. During the HTC hub registration it was asked a check for localization. Before of that only the Ring was working. I kept open Locations (app and widget) during the process.

I hope this can help somebody.

Thank you Guys!

I contacted HTC and received a very prompt reply with instructions to get it working. I followed the instructions to the letter and their website said my phone was "syncing" and it could take a few hours. The instructions said when I received the syncing message to refresh the page every 10 minutes. Three hours, untold refreshes and 250Mb of data usage later a message appeared " Phone finder on your phone is not
enabled". By this time I decided enough was enough. I emailed HTC again and thanked them for their help but told them their phone finder was absolute rubbish. Next day I received another email with additional workarounds.
Well my workaround was to look for an app that would do what I wanted and I believe I have now found it. HTC should do themselves a favour and dump their phone finder and use Androidlost from the market. What else.. IT'S FREE. and I can't believe how easy it was to setup.

I'm gonna post this here as it's the top of Google search for "HTC dashboard".

You need to remember to enter your country dialling code before your mobile number on the HTC sense dashboard.

For example in the UK:

07780??????

Becomes

+447780??????

You also need to create an account, which I did by going to "Get more HTC widgets".
HTC Sense Dashboard then works correctly.

The site isn't going to have a clue what country your from unless you specify that code.

Additionally if your behind a Firewalled router and using the WiFi connection, I suspect HTC sense won't be able to access your phone without port forwarding.

I just received this reply from htc...

"Thank you for your email regarding your HTC phone. I understand that you are experiencing some difficulties using the HTCSense.com website and its features to lock and ring your phone. I believe the reason you are experienicng this difficulty is because the HTCSense.com website has been shutdown at the moment. Due to customer feedback, we are working to improve the services experiences for our customers and as part of that effort have shut down HTCSense.com. I do apologise for the inconvenience this is causing you. I hope that this information meets with your requirements, should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us again."

It seems daft to me that a website can be 'shut down' yet still allow me log in and try to use the facilities without some notification that it is 'down'.

Cheers,

Keefie.
