From what I'm gathering, it'll only be available on new phones. I would be shocked if it didn't come out on some ROM though.

I would think the remote wipe/locate would be available for all HTC Sense phones since it is through a portal. Would that feature really require an OTA update to Sense to give us remote wipe/locate?From what I read on the engadget site we will be able to sign on to sense.com, however the tweaks will only be available for new phones.
People going crazy one more time.![]()
They just announced it, be patient people, is not the end of the world, we have another year before it happens.

I heard from a guy that heard from a guy that knows someone with a htc phone that it will be available aug 16th 2011

That would be pretty f***ed up on HTC's part if we don't get this. Sense UI is out of date and NEEDS to be updated a long time ago. number one we shouldn't feel special for getting this update, and we sure as shit shouldn't be getting left out. I'd for one most likely give up on HTC all together if they expect me to wait two years (due to just getting this phone and having two year contract) to update my sense UI there outta there freaking mind. I'd drop this phone so fast., between this and the Eris I'm about done anyway. I don't care how many times VZW opts to send me a refurb.
It's posts like this that make me shake my head. Yesterday you were completely happy with your phone and how it worked. Today you find out there's something better out there on newer platforms you bitch and moan and complain because your phone (which was fine yesterday) no longer meets your high standards.
**Disclaimer - By you I don't mean the OP necessarily, just the general attitude of people like him.
Two weeks, it will arrive in a mysterious box.![]()

I wasn't bitching and moaning. I was asking what this announcement was all about. I think the phone is great and have no complaints. If this is an upgrade to Sense that adds more functionality, who whoud't want it?!?!
That's all I was saying, I am just frustrated at HTC right now considering I've gone through 4 Eris' and 4 Incredibles al within 8 months..

That was what I was asking about earlier... if it would require an Inc-specific Froyo ROM update incorporating the new version of SenseUI, or if it would a "separate" update not affecting the existing Froyo ROM on the phone. It would be confusing if HTC didn't offer this updated version of sense to all of their phones capable of running it. unless there is some technical limitation that isn't hardware based (like it needing to be merged with the android os before loading it on the phone) it just wouldn't make much sense (pun intended).
