HTC Sense Update Features (Not HTClive.com)

From what I'm gathering, it'll only be available on new phones. I would be shocked if it didn't come out on some ROM though.

That would be pretty f***ed up on HTC's part if we don't get this. Sense UI is out of date and NEEDS to be updated a long time ago. number one we shouldn't feel special for getting this update, and we sure as shit shouldn't be getting left out. I'd for one most likely give up on HTC all together if they expect me to wait two years (due to just getting this phone and having two year contract) to update my sense UI there outta there freaking mind. I'd drop this phone so fast., between this and the Eris I'm about done anyway. I don't care how many times VZW opts to send me a refurb.

From what I read on the engadget site we will be able to sign on to sense.com, however the tweaks will only be available for new phones.
I would think the remote wipe/locate would be available for all HTC Sense phones since it is through a portal. Would that feature really require an OTA update to Sense to give us remote wipe/locate?
I would much rather have remote wipe thru HTC than some 3rd party app.

Also if you look closely at one of the pictures of the launcher bar the "add widget far right button" is changed to what looks like a paint program or something I wonder if they will finally give the option to change the launcher up.

i wouldn't say sense ui is out of date, after all it is still the best stock ui available on any new device from any manufacturer. plus the HTC phones released this year were the first with the current version of sense, it's less than a year old.

it would be confusing if HTC didn't offer this updated version of sense to all of their phones capable of running it. unless there is some technical limitation that isn't hardware based (like it needing to be merged with the android os before loading it on the phone) it just wouldn't make much sense (pun intended).

either way i'm sure rooted users will get this stuff in no time after it's released.

People going crazy one more time. :) :) They just announced it, be patient people, is not the end of the world, we have another year before it happens. :)

It's posts like this that make me shake my head. Yesterday you were completely happy with your phone and how it worked. Today you find out there's something better out there on newer platforms you bitch and moan and complain because your phone (which was fine yesterday) no longer meets your high standards.

**Disclaimer - By you I don't mean the OP necessarily, just the general attitude of people like him.

ya know what, I had this well thought out explaination, but I'm better than that, I'm better than getting annoyed at this little comment. I can do and think what ever the hell I want. PEACE to ya Mr. A.Nonymous. I live by Karma.

I wasn't bitching and moaning. I was asking what this announcement was all about. I think the phone is great and have no complaints. If this is an upgrade to Sense that adds more functionality, who whoud't want it?!?!

That's all I was saying, I am just frustrated at HTC right now considering I've gone through 4 Eris' and 4 Incredibles al within 8 months..

Definition of crazy = doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.
With so many phones to choose from, I am sure there is a match somewhere out there. Phones are like puppies, except you can throw your phone away if you dislike it.

From what I read on the engadget site we will be able to sign on to sense.com, however the tweaks will only be available for new phones. I hope this isn't true, but at the bottom of the article it said Availability: and stated the new phones that were being released.

From what I read, HTC said they have no information available at this time on if or when previous handsets would get updated. I was paraphrasing though. I take this to mean that it's not off the table yet.

This is straight from Engadget...
Eric Lin was on hand to answer the question of when this new Sense might trickle down to the classic Desire or other handsets in HTC's portfolio. Well, his answer was a non-answer: no roadmap or schedule has been set and HTC isn't ruling anything out just yet.

That was what I was asking about earlier... if it would require an Inc-specific Froyo ROM update incorporating the new version of SenseUI, or if it would a "separate" update not affecting the existing Froyo ROM on the phone.

What attitude?...The OP did not say anything whiny or with a bad attitude...I was the other OP (Threads were merged) and all I ever said was,

"When will we see these features???!!! The boot up time of the Desire Z is soooooo fast...."

I was only excited about some new awesome HTC features added to their already great launcher. The one guy you quoted was over the top...yes...but really, man, take a chill pill. The two people that started threads on this were only bringing up an HTC event and new software goodness so that we can all discuss it, which is really the point of this forum anyway.

Damn I just bought this phone I really hope it gets released for the Incredible otherwise I will be really upset. I paid out of contract price for the phone too!
