HTC Sense

Hi,

I have just Bought a HTC Desire HD

HTC Sense does not seem to work very well.
Is there certain settings that must be enabled for it to work?

Also I only see Dashboard on HTC Sense?

Thanks. :D

Has never worked fully in my experience, very disappointing considering it was the main reason I went for the DHD

It was working perfect for me for a while, but yesterday everything froze, and I couldn't even get into it. I managed to delete my account on both web and phone, and started over. Now I can log in, but I only have basic options, no HUB, Footprints, or anything like that. I tried accessing it on phone, and I get "cannot connect to sever. try again later". They always are having issues. I wish they would just fix it already.

EDIT - Yes I only see dashboard too. I can't even select a country to save.

This has been gone over in multiple threads, both here and on xda-developers. Look for posts by me ( dvhttn) and the threads should come up. Just checked my htc sense and, albeit a little slow tonight, it's all working.

Dave

I still only get the map screen. Nothing else. No Footprints, Friends, HUB, etc. As you can see also (maybe, it may be too small) in the upper right corner, it says select country, but every time I try, it comes back to this screen. I even deleted my account, and made a new one. Tried it on different computers, cleared all my internet cookies. Everything I could think of. Any suggestions?

It has never worked for me. I heard they are still having problems

I think the whole site is quite buggy, I think we just wait till after the holidays and then you see it improving and actually working.

I only see the maps as well, but calling my phone does work...

My HTC Sense works fine

I know this is going to sound daft, and I apologise in advance, but when people are setting this up, you are allowing time for it to all sync up right..and if possible over wifi?

If that still isn't doing great for you, reset your phone, then pair it up, and then start doing all your stuff with your phone :).

Here's my Sense and what most peoples should look like. Click to enlarge

I'm getting this message on the HTC Sense Dashboard:

“Phone finder" is currently disabled. For security reasons, go to your phone to enable this feature in Settings >> Location >> Phone finder.

I've checked this setting and it is enabled. Any ideas anyone?

interesting to see all the sense functions working for you

can you tell us how to remove htcsense account from phone and sense website then add again ?

It's good to see this working for some people and equally disappointing to see it failing for others including me. My advice: if it doesn't fully work straight away, don't waste your time removing / re-adding accounts in an attempt to get it working.

HTC's email response yesterday when I contacted them was:

"HTC is aware of the issues with the HTCSense website and our engineers are working to resolve them. We ask that customers be patient with us while this work continues as we hope to have the issues resolved soon.

I trust that the above resolves your situation. If however you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for contacting HTC"

This service has been broken for the last four weeks for me and I hope HTC get their act together to fix this soon.

Im having the problems with HTCSense and emailed HTC, this is the response:

Hopefully it will be sorted soon.

I've also done the account delete/recreate stuff. Followed 3 different forum guides, still can't get it to work fully.

The only thing that works is the Ring button. Don't get the full dashboard.

HI, mine is the same. when I first had the phone it worked fine but when I tried to log on to the sense website yesterday it wouldn't accept my password. I deleted and re set up an account but now I get the same error message as you.

My messages are out of date, about a week or so and the locator reckons my phone is in the sea, just off the coast of Gabon!!

I think HTC have decided to reward all long-suffering HTC Sense users with a holiday cruise in this location. Either that or it corresponds to zero degrees latitude and longitude - a default position that is used when no real positional data has been received.

Seriously, it's another example of the sloppy programming that seems to be underlying HTC Sense - any programmer with any sense (geddit?), would only show a location when it had been received and would otherwise show a message explaining that no valid location had been received.

My response from HTC support staff (eventually, as they initially denied that there were any problems).

"HTC is undertaking an upgrade to HTCSense.com in order to enhance the web experience for our customers, extend service availability and increase service quality and uptime. Due to server maintenance and performance issues, we were forced to temporarily limit some of the services offered. Full functionality will return shortly.

We are working on getting the site back up and running as soon as possible. Full functionality will be restored to all customers shortly, ant changes will be disclosed on the HTC website.

...at the moment we do not have exact schedule when functionality of htcsense.com will be restored. "

i cant get owt to work on htcsense as well sent em some mgs there surport team said will be two weeks for them to look in to it !!!!!!!!!

as spencer everything works on my HTC sence account. just thinks my phones location is always at work maybe that's because im there so bloody much!

i had the same problems but change my phone number whitout my country code +32 like this. this is not my number but normaly it was +324xxxxxxxx end change it to 4xxxxxxxx now i can see my thru location

mybe this wil help you guys

Huh, all this time later and it's still not working correctly. That's distressing. I'm trying out an Inspire and while Sense online worked initially, nothing really works now. Can't ring my phone to locate or locate it via the map. Mixed results locking it as well.

I know there are other apps out there that provide the same functionality, but this was a selling point of the phone for me. It definitely undermines my confidence in the product though I'll admit it seems everything else is working quite well.
