HTC senseware

This is my first android phone.

What is this senseware? I have Facebook installed twice, I have twitter installed twice. the one install says by HTC senseware and the other is blank, what is this? do I need it can I get rid of it?

You can't get 'rid' of it per se'. One is sort of connected to the 'stream', and the other is the actual application. I wouldn't worry about it...

There are built-in AT&T apps and HTC apps that come pre-installed with the phone. You cannot get rid of them (without rooting). If you go to the app store, you can download these apps also. Then you will have two versions.

I removed my HTC Sync account and simply use the real Facebook application. It syncs my contacts and statues quite well. HTC Sync had the following issues:

It would sync all of my 'on-line directories' (as opposed to my contacts on the phone) via bluetooth, rendering the phone book in my car nearly useless.

It would not sync Facebook to my Favorites Widget or my contacts. FB statuses would be days out of date.

It would not update my friends Facebook photos (contact image).
