Help HTC Sync 3.0 - anyone using it?

[pspbricker]

Just downloaded HTC Sync 3.0 from the HTC site, and wanted to try the fabled itunes sync amongst other things. The program looks great - but I am unable to sync with my Desire - I get the message "unknown error" just after calendar sync. Just wondering if anyone else uses this version of HTC Sync, and if so, does it work ok?
The Desire is a non-rooted device running 2.2

at least it syncs your calendar. my calendar sync option stays grayed out, so i just have to rely on the 3G sync
