Help HTC Sync Manager wont read my phone?

AshSol

Lurker
Hey guys,

I have an HTC One Max. I downloaded HTC Sync Manager the other day, and it wont read my phone.

It opens automatically as soon as I connect my HTC, but if I click home it literally says "No Phone Connected". What can I do to fix this?

I have all the latest software, so I know that's not the issue. I'm using the official HTC cable, too.

Also, I did the 7 tapping thing and opened my developer settings. USB debugging mode was off, so I turned it on. It didn't fix the problem, so I turned it off again. I read somewhere that sometimes this fixes it, but I'm still having the issue.
Any/all help is greatly appreciated!

What are you trying to accomplish? The HTC sync manager may not be needed.

I wanted to transfer music to my phone. I tried to do it through iTunes (dragging it from there to my music folder on my phone) but it wouldn't let me because of file format.

I also just want HTC Sync Manager to work in general.

Thanks for your reply!

if you have itunes music you want transferred over, smoke over this thread in the htc one forum:

you dont need htc sync at all to transfer files and such to and fro. there are wireless apps you can use (wifi file explorer i use personally) and you can also just plug up your phone direct to a computer and transfer files.

android is a much more user friendly experience in this regard because you dont need extra apps to aid you in file transfers. i dont use any htc sync apps or transfer tools at all and I have been using android since 2009.

anyway, smoke over that link. many of the FAQs in the htc one form apply tot he one max.

Hello AshSol,

I have an HTC One Max and I have had this problem just now too. I tried everything and could not figure it out, but I now got it to work a few moments ago. Turn on USB Debugging from the Developer Settings (Tap 7 times on Build Number) and then give the phone a few seconds and connect it via USB to your computer. It should work fine, Also make sure your phone is unlocked and that there aren't any restrictions on in terms of your phone blocking unauthorized apps etc. to access your phone. Otherwise I'm not sure what else could help, I made sure both HTC Sync Manager and HTC One Max were completely updated and then I also restarted my phone, that might help as well. Hope this helps, good luck!

I agree that it's just a convenience thing too, I like to be able to just open it how I would open Itunes and change settings directly through an official HTC Software/Application.
Alright, well good luck, hope I could help.
