Help HTC Sync not recognising my Wildfire

Hi, I have uploaded the latest HTC Sync software available onto my PC at the Telstra shop and my PC just won't recognise my Wildfire, even though from the phone's point of view everything is in order. I have installed and uninstalled and installed HTC Sync onto my PC with no joy. Is there a simple solution to this problem?

Set your phones usb de-bugging on. Then it will work
If you don't know how to turn usb debugging on reply and I will tell you
