Help HTC sync not working...

When i hook my phone up to my computer and select HTC sync it goes through the motions and then it says connected for 2 seconds and then disconnected. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

How are you connecting to the PC? If I mount as Disk Drive, I get that error message on the PC but it still works.

What does the program - Htc sync - actually do? i don't understand what it is for exactly. Is it for syncing to phones together or what?

Transferring data between the phone and PC. It checks the files on the phone against the files in the folder you've specified to sync to, then copies over whatever it can't find.

Ok problem solved. I had just recently wiped out my computer and i must have got a bad install because my computer was acting wierd so i wiped it out again and reinstalled windows and now htc sync works.

Does anyone have a problem with duplicates being created - contacts and calendar? I know there's a work-round if you're using exchange to sync wirelessly, but I'm not using exchange & not syncing wirelessly. I just get an extra dozen birthdays showing up, scattered randomly through the year . . I've switched off contact syncing now.
