I have an HTC Desire and HTC Sync ver 3.0.5481
I can sync my Outlook Contacts and Calendar with the phone OK but if I put a new event in the phone it does not sync to my Outlook Calendar
I have set it to always use the 'most recent updated'

Can anyone help please?

If you poke around in the desktop HTCSync there should be a way to force sync in either direction (under "repair sync", I think). I got away with doing that for a while but then it started duplicating contacts on the desktop. Now that I've rooted, I can do complete backups to my card and don't bother with HTCSync any more - it is incredibly buggy.

Hi Folks, I have a HTC Desire HD which I am trying to sync with Outlook 2003 using HTCSync (ver 3.0.5481). If I create a new calendar entry on the phone, it does not copy to the PC. I had a look at the desktop HTCSync but have not found any way to select the "repair" option. Any ideas?

I suggest you use anything but HTC Sync - it is useless! There are many apps / softwares that allow you to truly sync your Desire. The best option imho is to use Google as a conduit and sync your Outlook with your Google account by means of an Outlook plug-in. There are several on the market. Google, together with your Desire's sync functionality will take care of the rest.

Hi heat57, thanks for the reply. I am a little reluctant to put all my calendar information into google. I was hoping that if enough HTC owners make a noise, HTC will fix it rather than risk that potential bad press. Of course, all the programmers building synchronisation apps need to be given a chance too so I guess I will probably try that route. I myself wrote a PC based program to sync my files with the DHD because HTCSync just isn't good enough. Thanks again.

Hi again heat57, I just installed MyPhoneExplorer and tried it out. In short, it did not work for me. It seemed to synchronise with my phone OK. When I added Outlook 2003, it said there were about 800 entries that needed to be sent to outlook, and most of them were duplicates, in a few cases, over a hundred of the same entry. I searched the MPE website and found other people with the same problem. I could not find a solution to the problem though. I tried forcing a delete on the entries on the phone but they just appeared again the next time. In the end I gave up. Back to the "devil I know" for now. Thanks again.

Hi RKDhanjal, don't worry, there is help at hand. First of all, I wouldn't be too concernecd about Google holding your calendar, and for this matter, other data since most governemntal organisations anywhere in the world will be able to gain access if they really choose to - nothing is secret/private in this day and age. Well, our own home network security, or lack if it, is probably more vunerable to ingress by unwanted snoopers. Anyway, no to my solution. Set yourself a Google account (free) and use gmail as an IMAP service. First problem solved! By the way you can also set your gmail to fetch mail from any other POP3 account a regular intervals and then let your gmail account "push" your mail to any mobile device or PC with the prerequisite account information.

Next get yourself a desktop software called gSyncit (Google it) which offers a large number of sync options for Outlook Calendar, Notes, Tasks and last but not least, Contacts. It is so good that you can also set it to delete any duplicates it finds during sync. A typical sync from my Outlook to my Google account, which includes some 300 contacts and 250 calendar events over a date range of 760 days takes some 1.5 to 2 minutes and it does so unobtrusivley in the background. It does a brilliant job for me and works flawlessly with Google. As you probaly know the beauty with Android handsets is the fact that they have been developed from the word go with Goggle services in mind and, therefore, they interact seemlessly from Google account to mobile device. The only loop that is left to close for many out there is the link to your desktop.

After months of research and trials and errors I finally stumbled across gSyncit and never looked back since. Best of all, you can get a free trial (limited to a small number of syncs with contacts etc.) or you can jump right in for a paltry $19.99. "You pays your money, you makes your choice".
