Help HTC thunderbolt Sim card help please

No it would need to be a VZW 4G SIM, if you do not have one and get a refirb then VZW should give you one for free.

This.

I tried slipping my TouchPro 2's sim card in just for gits and shiggles, and the TB would flash that it was an unrecognized SIM card. And then I tried slipping my 4G sim card into my TP2 and got the same message.

Now as to whether or not you can hack into your TB so it recognizes another 4G network, I won't say it's impossible since I've seen iPhones on T-mobile's network but considering Verizon uses a different network than most other carriers, I'm betting it's going to be very difficult to configure the TB for a different network, and if you do then I'd have to ask why you'd want to go to a slower network....

Once AT&T gets their LTE network rolled out you may be able to hack it for the LTE. Also I have heard Sprint will be dropping WiMax and get LTE.

If you can get AT&T's network to work it would likely not be worth it due to no 3g. But if Sprint rolls out LTE and you can get it work with that then you would be able to get it to work with data and CDMA at least in theory.

I thought I read somewhere that cross-network LTE bands are not compatible since they use different ranges in the... 700mhz? spectrum.

Ah, here we go:
Verizon LTE: no roaming, even if you want to -- Engadget

I read that too but I'm not sure if the radio couldn't be hacked to pick up the AT&T band, the radio may be capable of using it but could be nerfed by Verizon. Once AT&T 4g phones start coming out we will be able to compare internal specs like the radios

Ah, yeah, that makes sense from the perspective of the radio manufacturers. Why build two chips that do basically the same thing when you can build one instead when the difference is really the range it can utilize.

Yeah if they are the same radio the challenge would be hacking it to make it receive a usable signal from AT&T, but until we start seeing AT&T LTE phones we won't even know if it is possible :)
