Help HTC Trace Keyboard Question : )

Hey guys... I'm fairly new to sense, and have been playing with the Trace keyboard version that is included with the Rezound.

Generally it seems like a pretty nice keyboard (havn't tried swype, etc)... BUT my simple question is this: How do I repeat a letter? I'm just trying to type something like "Cool" and keep ending up with "Coo"... :-P

Thanks in advance... ;)

Circle or loop on the letter to repeat it. I kind of do a cursive lowercase "l" to accomplish this.

Hrmph... seems to work fine to get the double "o"... but it never recognizes the letter after (in this case the "l" in cool)... guess I'll keep messing with it.

Thanks for the reply! :)

i installed sywpe on my Rezound as i was already used to it on my DInc. does anyone have experience on both and is willing to give a comparison? i didnt even know we had that on our phones.

Me neither. I will be trying it out over the next few days for sure. I can't stand swype when I have to actually type something instead of using the "trace" feature.

My trace keyboard only works on the browser and text messages. If I use for anything else, such as the market, it doesn't trace. Is that normal?

just sit there for a second or two, and it registers the second letter in a row...

so if you do cool, swype up to O from C and sit at the O for a second or two, then down to L, and bam

Yes, I have noticed this as well. Plus if you've already entered a word and moved on if you try and double click it to re-correct it it does not give you options for other words like Swype. So far I would say that Swype is superior. Like I said before my only complaint is that when you have to type something I don't think Swype is the best keyboard, but obviously it is not meant for that.

That made trace immediately useless for me. Was glad to install Swype again after testing trace for an hour.

Well... that works great for the double O's... but I still can't get it to recognize the "L" at the end... not sure why. It works for other word combinations... very strange.

do this...try the swiping, then when it shows up with the wrong word, hit the down arrow, then hit add word..type in "cool", hit ok..now try again. someitmes you have to add words already in teh dictionary to the swiping feature..for example, COO kept coming up for me, it wouldn't register the L..now i added cool adn it works fine..i've done this for A BUNCH of words and they work well now

Sweet! Thanks for the tips!

Does Swype work in all applications?

From whence did you get it? I don't see it in the market, so either I'm missing something or you got it through the browser or something?

I don't know if this has already been discussed or not but I figured out you have to have text prediction on for trace to work properly.

I was using trace until I figured out how to get actual Swype. Swype is better imo, just seems faster and more accurate. With both if the letter after the double is close on the keyboard it sometimes helps to go past the letter. So for the word cool, make sure to drag your finger all the way across the L key and just a little past it so it will recognize you intentionally hit the L. This only happens on similar words. A in coo and cool or a and as.

Anyone have a comparison with the SlideIT keyboard? I've been using SlideIT but I am open to alternatives. Any comments on that versus the built in Trace keyboard?
