Root HTC trying to stop Rooting?

HTC Incredible S has a signed bootloader and recovery, will HTC phones become less custom ROM friendly?

I know this isn't technically about the Desire, but i thought it'd be worth posting. Looks as though HTC are trying stop (or at least slow down) the ability to root phones

I know it's not going to stop rooting just yet, but it's still a move in the wrong direction (from our POV anyway) for HTC.

We'll see. I'm sure they will get round it. They are always trrying to make it harder.

Desire is harder than Hero for example.

They say they are locking the bootloader down like motorola. Ironically Motorola have recently decided to open theirs up I believe.

Yeah i don't doubt for a minute that the usual suspects will find a way in, but every time the devs reveal a hole, if HTC are going to patch it then it's just going to get more and more difficult and essentially require more time and effort from the devs.

Lets just hope it's not the start of HTC doing an Apple on us... *shudders*

Lol yeah that would be worrying! The ability to root was one of my main reasons for buying the Desire so if HTC remove that in the future releases I would have to think twice before buying HTC phones!

From my experience with flashing PSPs I would say that there's always a way round it (some quite clever, such as using a batteries EEPROM). It just gets a little more complex.
