HTC weather widget sucks

Use the Fancy widget if you can still get it - creator was given C&D from HTC. It's essentially HTC's weather widget (minus the animations) but gets it's info from weather.com.

My Fancy Widget updates worse than the HTC. I haven't given up yet...and I have the Weather channel widget running too, so I do have up to date weather. But I like the HTC clock, just wish it'd work.

I am having issues with the HTC weather app also.

I live in Corona, CA and I work in Los Angeles. When I leave in the morning to go to work it shows Corona, CA and when I get to LA it still shows Corona all day.

I even went to AZ recently and the whole time I was there it showed Corona, CA. Yes I have "location on".

It even shows 2 Corona, CA locations when I go to delete locations and I "X" the Corona, CA location and it never deletes.

Wow that commute must be a b**ch....heh I live in Riverside.

I think the HTC widget has preset day/night times. If I check it at 7:45am on my way to work it will show the moon, but at 8:00 it changes to a sun. Pretty lame.

I would suggest you get the fancy widget TODAY if you might want it. I just got it and it is perfect if I decide to try launcher Pro again.

My problem with the HTC weather widget is it stopped recognizing my town. When set to Current Location, it floats between two cities that are about 15ish miles away. Tried searching for the town, doesn't show up at all.

What's odd, is it worked up until when I noticed it showing the wrong city today. heh

weatherbug elite is my favorite. Can see the next few days with % chance of rain on the widget so I rarely have to click on it.

I was tired of not getting enough detail and it often changed cities multiple times. Just replaced the weather widget with Weather Forecast widget. Not sure if it will do any better on location but i get better advanced forecasts.

The Weather Widget with the clock is so cool especially with the graphics, but it's pointless if it's wrong. I started noticing after a couple of weeks that the clouds would clear and it would be sunny here in LA for 4-5 hours and yet the weather widget still shows cloudy.

Also, it'll be dark and the moon will have been out for hours and the widget still shows the sun shining brightly. I checked all the "sync" settings multiple times, but it didn't help. It seemed to do good updating my location if I visit another LA area city, but still didn't accurately update the weather.

For now, I'm using the mini-clock Widget and then the Weather Channel widget. (If anyone knows weather, it's the weather channel.) But this is not near as attractive or as cool as the HTC graphics. It would be great if they partnered with Weather Channel or someone so that the weather could be accurate on the widget and if you click the weather it links to a professional weather service.

Probably won't happen, but we'll see...

Agree the HTC weather widget is in special ed compared to other weather widgets, but I just love the animation and after all it is a phone. I suppose for real accuracy I could just walk outside holding it and see the rain drops on the screen or feel it warm up if sunny out.

Anyone recommend a good weather app that will send alarms for extreme weather minus spam or ads?

weatherbug and weather channel send alerts. Sometimes it is for bad air quality though so it's not all "extreme" alerts

Its pouring down rain, but my phone thinks its a nice sunny day. I just synced it too. I have another weather widget but it doenst look as slick as the htc one.

I have seen problems alike that with mine as well. I'll be driving through the state and it will say I'm somewhere I'm not as well... or say its like 80 degrees out when its 110.

But that aside, I have tried other ones and I do not like any other one. I refresh the widget and the main screen weather refreshes and that seems to do the trick. Not always though.

I don't use the HTC weather widget, either. It tells me it's nice and sunny at 10 o'clock at night. I like Weather Bug.

My HTC weather/clock works great, it updates exactly when I tell it to with correct weather, or updates every 1 hours with correct info to..

For those of you having issues with keeping the weather widget going.. be sure to check the following (and this also fixes the "Update Frequency Won't Stick")

Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync

Make sure Auto-Sync is ticked, or else the auto-update for the Weather will not stick, no matter how many times you try and apply it from the Weather widget's end.

Then just tick the Weather to be apart of the "Auto-Sync" and it should be good.

I know whenever I enter a different "area" it updates..

I live in Mt. Pleasant SC (SubCity of Charleston), and it shows Mt. P at my home.. "Charleston" is Downtown.. North Charleston is.. well North Charleston - etc etc..

Granted the Weather info isn't radar worthy.. but at least everytime I go to look at it, its updated now..

Aside from the odd 'sunny graphic when it is nighttime' problem that others have noted, the other strange thing I have noticed is that the HTC weather widgets on two phones (both Incredibles, both bought at the same time), set up with all the same settings (syncing, location, etc), do not show the same weather. Right now, mine says 80 and partly sunny, his says 82 and intermittent clouds. Last night, during a heavy thunderstorm, his was accurate with storms and mine showed sunny. Even when we both hit update at the same time to manually update the weather, they are different. Makes no sense!

I've always found the Google News & Weather widget, originally from the Nexus One, to be reliable weather-wise. It pulls its information from the Weather Channel and offers the choice of displaying news only, weather and news, or just weather, plus you can click through to see a graph of upcoming weather hour-by-hour, which I think is its most useful aspect. You can find it quite easily by doing a search for Genie Widget.
