Help HTC Wildfire Boot Loop

PCMobGuru

Lurker
Hi folks,

Hoping someone on here will be able to assist, because I've been spending ages trying to find a solution, and just fed up now, and about to tear my hair out.
I believe my phone is a HTC Wildfire A3333, which for a while, started complaining about a lack of memory (which I ignored, and kept using it). It's at the point now, where it won't even boot up properly. On switch on, it starts with "HTC Quietly brilliant...." then goes to what I think is the vodafone logo (someone had this phone before me), then promptly goes back to the HTC screen again, and so the loop continues.
I've got text messages on the phone that I don't particularly want to lose.
I am able to connect my phone to my windows 7 laptop, and fastboot seems to recognise the phone.
Help would be great, thankyou!

Unfortunately without being able to boot into the device, I think it's pretty unlikely that you'll be able to back anything up. I'd probably just bite the bullet and attempt a factory reset to see if you can get the device working again.

If you are willing to go that route (and lose your data) you can perform a facttory reset per these instructions:
  1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
  2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
  3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
  4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

There's no guarantee that this will work, but there's a good chance. If there is a more serious problem such as a hardware issue or a corrupt system partition, a factory reset probably won't help.

Hi, I don't appear to have Factory Reset, at the initial menu I get, I've got Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, Simlock.
If I hit Recovery, all that happens is HTC comes up, then I get a picture of a phone with a Red Triangle with exclamation, and the phone doesn't seem to do anything else.
I don't want to hit clear storage, because presumably that wipes the entire phone, including any texts that might be stored on the actual phone itself?
There was a thread on another forum (a quite dated one I think), where someone appeared to have the same problem as me, and managed to resolve it using Fastboot.
I assume what's happened is that the bootloader has become corrupted in some way?

I don't think that your bootloader is corrupted, as your phone wouldn't attempt to boot most likely.

If you go into recovery, once you see the red triangle, try holding the power button and tapping volume up and see if a menu appears in the recovery.

Any chance you would be able to find the thread you are referring to? It might give us some more ideas to try.

I have tried what you suggested, but it doesn't do anything. I think I found the original thread, but it's of no use as all the guy says is that he used fastboot commands and it worked, but his phone was a HTC One.
Well if you reckon my bootloader isn't corrupted, what is that process then where HTC appears, then the vodafone logo, before the android OS loads? I thought that was the bootloader?
From what I can gather the 'boot loop' problem is quite common, but mine only started because of the memory warnings. At least, I assume that's what's caused it?
Any ideas where I might be able to get hold of the RUU/stock ROM for my phone? I think I have to have boot.img file or something?
